Thinking more about No Rest for the Living and its cool how there's like very few monster closet style traps

rather than throw a bunch of monsters in your face, most "traps" instead release monsters in older areas that you'll circle back to later

you know with how influential Inferno is in the sort of mainstream perception of the christian hell, I've frequently been disappointed that nothing ever really tries to depict the frozen lake at the center

I am so curious to see what they plan on doing for the expansion

oh legacy of rust is like immediately off-putting

I was hoping it was in line with no rest for the living but this is pretty not good

I've wondered if people that work for devs that do big lay offs but weren't laid off themselves get like survivor's guilt

One of the things that's gonna hasten the death of the live service model is how not being the very top dog isn't good enough for investors

people are learning to not even check out games that look good because the chances of the doors closing within only a couple years is too high

I love looking at soundtracks for doom wads cuz like obviously not all of them can really get a full original soundtrack so sometimes they'll just pilfer songs from other games

I think pretending that discord (among other platforms) care about children is giving them more ground than they deserve and also a little dangerously naive
February 9, 2026 at 6:02 PM
it'd be cool though if the discord thing leads to people "rediscovering" gamefaqs as a repository of game knowledge

even if I think discord is gonna back down

Watching/reading doom reviews and I feel like hardcore old doom heads care more about aesthetics than actual gameplay, which is a bit surprising to me

ok like the discord thing sucks but what sucks more is we keep letting officials pass these shitty "think of the children" laws that put our user data at risk and isolate teens from their online social groups

look up what laws they're trying to pass in your area and annoy the fuck out of your reps!

Game devs can start doing remakes again after the industry has moved out of its hyper qol trend

dudes like that former Elder Scrolls dev that are actually embarassed by their old games are probably pretty common
February 9, 2026 at 4:42 PM
I have no horse in this race but this gotta be like one of the worst remake efforts I've seen
The result is a game that feels like it was rushed out the door.

Ironic, as this was the magazine that referred to Pokémon as a "pestilential Ponzi scheme" in 1999, characterising its creator Satoshi Tajiri as a literal monster "His eyes are bloodshot; dark circles ripple beneath them... His monsters are a child's predelictions." He never gave another interview.
