this is honestly why I like KH3's critical mode probably the most because it did actually make me change how I played the game

things become a lot more manageable when you start trying to plan around "how can I stay in the air as long as possible"

imo KH3's combat really takes off when you realize this, and every battle kinda becomes a floor is lava situation where you're always looking for ways to get a height advantage of the enemies so that they can't reach you and you can more safely focus

and like their takeaway is that this makes KH3 kinda less interesting, but like being in the air in KH3 is such an advantage that it kind flips the priority around on its head that in a lot of situation, you WANT to be in the air, rather than on the ground

its unfortunate cuz I feel like your party members in KH1 are all generally strong and useful but you don't really want to tweak them in that game

meanwhile party members fall off in usefulness quite a bit in KH2 so even though you can swap party members on the fly, its not an option people go for

KH2 has the best iteration of like party management as a mechanic but I also don't think its something people actively engage with on the fly
