The Albanese Government's proposed changes would weaken our environment laws and benefit destructive industries.

The Australia Institute is proud to be one of 100+ orgs calling on Parliament to reject the changes that would gut our environmental protections.

The "social democrat" dads are cranky at the kids again
I'm all for young enthusiastic people being involved in politics - shit, I give a lot of my time to teach some of them how stuff works - but this is vicariously embarrassing. Using council rates to control rents would be legislated away by the State gov immediately. It makes you look stupid.
The Greens are pushing for a rent freeze on the Gold Coast as an "emergency measure" amid the housing crisis, saying that "unsustainable rent increases" are forcing the working class out of the city

They caved in March so they could get a better deal now. They’re caving now so they can get a better deal in some indeterminate future. The better deal is always just beyond their reach, but continuing to cave will get them there. And if you don’t agree with that, you don’t understand Politics,

No way does he deserve a state funeral.

I know it's hard, and you've really got to put your back into it, but it IS possible for the media not to endlessly talk about the dismissal. I believe in you!

Real leftists know things have never been good
A large share of politics coded as “left” on this site is in fact reactionary nostalgia - an inchoate belief that times were better in the good old days and nebulous forces have taken that from us.

Voting is open for the Mardi Gras board, and I encourage everyone to sign up to become a member and vote!

There is a Zionist push to keep Mardi Gras in the hands of cops and weapons manufacturers. Pride in Protest have been campaigning to return Mardi Gras into grassroots hands.

Robodebt was a mass deception based on a cruel bet: that people on income support would simply give up and pay debts they didn't owe.

Today I tabled a petition from Kath Madgwick and Jenny Miller calling for those responsible to finally be held accountable.

Welfare payments are increasingly conditional and subject to the whims of profiteering job agencies - who can't even help people find work!

We must stop expecting Labor to be better. Maintaining an underclass of people living in permanent precarity is part of their business model.

Zoe Daniel joins the chorus of deeply unhelpful hot takes from non-experts about the EPBC reforms.

This opinion piece is so poorly constructed and full of deeply ignorant and superficial commentary. It reads like it’s written by a Labor staffer.

Absolutely pointless contribution from Zoe Daniel here. Like a columnist who’s already run out of ideas so just keeps repeating the same thing. In this case: centrism no matter the cost.

$11.5 billion. That's how much Australia's teachers contribute in unpaid labour every year.

Our teachers are overworked, undervalued and facing increasingly difficult and unsafe classroom conditions.

It's no wonder they're abandoning the profession in droves. #WorldTeachersDay
