Robodebt was a mass deception based on a cruel bet: that people on income support would simply give up and pay debts they didn't owe.

Today I tabled a petition from Kath Madgwick and Jenny Miller calling for those responsible to finally be held accountable.
The brutal shootings in Sydney last night have shaken the nation. Hanukkah should be a time of peace and reflection for the Jewish community, but that has been shattered by this senseless killing.

Now is the time for us all to come together. We can not let this hatred divide us.

I wrote to the Health Minister Mark Butler earlier this week, urging him to end his government’s policy of shortages of Aged Care at today’s meeting of Health Ministers.

Thousands of older Australians are stranded right now in hospital beds due to a shortage of aged care.

How long do we have to wait to see justice for Robodebt?

Years on from the Robodebt Royal Commission, and still not one person responsible has been held to account.

Statement on damning report into welfare 'mutual obligations'👇

Today’s report confirms what any JobSeeker already knows: the ‘mutual obligations’ system is pointless, cruel, and rather than helping people, treats people on income support as disposable
Labor must end their unlawful JobSeeker obligations system after another damning report reveals decisions made without oversight or accountability | The Australian Greens

Older Australians are dying waiting for care.

Labor and the Liberals are selling the care of our parents and grandparents off for private profits and releasing less care than people need each year.

In a wealthy country like ours, there’s no excuse for a crisis of aged care.

Older people many on fixed incomes are copping increased costs for their basic care at home so that privatised aged care providers can make bigger profits. With many still dying waiting a year or more for care. Now having their details stolen.

In estimates today the Department confessed to me that older people are having their My Aged Care data stolen by providers for use in sales calls.

This is aged care under Labor: jacking up out-of-pocket costs then letting telemarketers loose to gouge vulnerable people even more.

1 in 7 Australians are now living in poverty, up from 1 in 8 just a few years ago.

It’s no coincidence that demand for domestic violence services is rising at the same time. To end domestic violence, Labor needs to stop rising poverty.

116 legal and policy experts have now opposed Labor’s new powers for police to recommend cutting payments from people without them even having been convicted of a crime.

Cops shouldn’t be anywhere near welfare law and Labor should withdraw this amendment. www.theaustralian.com.au/nation/treat...

How absurd.

Labor’s callous decisions on aged care mean thousands of older people are stuck waiting in hospitals. These are people who are not sick, they are just waiting for beds and home care packages that don’t exist.

How can a person get rejected 21 times from Aged Care - by being too costly to care for?

You shouldn’t have to audition for care.

Trying to search for a company on the Attorney-General's lobbyist register but the website is broken. Another win for transparency under Labor!

This is incredible.

Just days after Labor’s new Aged Care co-payments took effect, and older people are facing being forced off supports they can no longer afford, profiteers are leaping into the sector to make a buck.

BREAKING: The Senate has today backed my motions to establish two new inquiries into the costs and impacts of Labor’s aged care reforms.

The reforms, which took effect on Saturday, are bad news for older people and their families. The government needs to be held accountable.

Welfare payments are increasingly conditional and subject to the whims of profiteering job agencies - who can't even help people find work!

We must stop expecting Labor to be better. Maintaining an underclass of people living in permanent precarity is part of their business model.

Today, older people across the country - hundreds of thousands of whom are on miniscule fixed incomes - will cop increased costs for their care and support so for-profit providers can continue making a buck.

How do I know this? The minister said so.

Labor are sneaking through extraordinary powers to let police and ASIO cut peoples welfare if they’ve been charged with a crime.

This is an unacceptable power grab, and will harm families and partners of people reliant on payments to survive.

$11.5 billion. That's how much Australia's teachers contribute in unpaid labour every year.

Our teachers are overworked, undervalued and facing increasingly difficult and unsafe classroom conditions.

It's no wonder they're abandoning the profession in droves. #WorldTeachersDay
