As we head into the new academic year in Australia, I'd like to reshare this document of #neurodivergent study tips that I compiled.

It's based entirely on tips by neurodivergent people, and I have had learning advisors tell me it was very helpful and had good info.

Do we need a whole new model for writing instruction? Or do we need to stop pretending that AI is a problem for individual professors to solve through responsible pedagogy and not a symptom of systemic issues in higher education that can only be addressed through collective action?

Make sure you have the VicEmergency App and have set your watch zone to where you will be tomorrow. A battery operated digital radio is also recommended as a second information source.
Public land across these four regions, as well as the Dandenong Ranges Park and potentially parks in additional regions, will all be closed tomorrow.
SW Victoria added to the areas expecting catastrophic fire danger tomorrow. People living or holidaying in bushland in SW, Wimmera, Nthn Country and Nth Central regions are asked to leave today, and by 7am Friday at the latest. Fires will be “unpredictable and uncontrollable”.

Well there’s a first for everything and today’s first is: evacuating the lake because of fire risk.

I’m presently safe here from existing fires, but I’m surrounded by bush and basically bordering the two areas of Vic that will be catastrophic fire danger tomorrow. And a present fire that if it-

My kingdom also for the lovely lady at the Graduate Admissions office I called literally the second they opened the phones 😩

(the page crashed on me as I submitted, and it is telling me I can still edit it but I can’t access the pay and submit section again as I had already paid…)

It’s too hot to cook so dinner is: everything that you would put on nachos but instead cold as a dip

Friendly reminder: Taking NSAIDS (Advil, Tylenol etc) dramatically reduces the efficacy of vaccines, so don’t take them a day before and 7 days after a vaccination. Just vibe with that ‘hit by a car while hungover’ feeling. It’s good for you. www.urmc.rochester.edu/news/publica...

My kingdom for @searchingforsam.bsky.social who has obligingly read several versions of the relatively same answers in different word counts, often at short notice, for various PhD applications - that’s what we call partner support 🥰

History is always being rewritten. Sometimes the rewrite is self-serving, dangerous and dishonest. This is why voters, and pupils who might vote later, need to learn how to question stories; how to notice the differences between fact and fiction; truths and lies. Oh America 😔

We’re Bookshop.org, an ethical alternative to Amazon for buying books online where every purchase supports indie bookstores all over the U.S. 😌📚

University libraries and departments often have good aircon: particularly the economics and engineering departments. The metro campuses won’t ask for ID, they even have cushy chairs and power points to charge your hardware

I received a very sweet email from a disabled student I taught last semester who required a few accomodations. She thanked me for going ‘above and beyond’

On one hand, I’m really glad, improving accessibility in education is a goal of mine. On the other, I don’t feel like I went above and beyond.
