Hey, I'm Greg- fat, queer, and nonbinary (He/They). Disabled. I mostly just reblog stuff nowadays and play games with friends, sometimes on Twitch. DMs open.

“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

This is what AI scrapers are doing to our platform. Our database capacity is just being ruined every time they initiate a fresh scrape and our tech team has to scramble, taking radical measures, to keep the platform up.

I understand framing the AI bubble RAM supply crisis in terms of stuff like video game consoles because nerds can conceptualize that but the framing does really undersell the sheer magnitude of how it's going to fuck up everything that even touches a computer.

the lesson they learned is “this works” and they’ll do it again

whoever is next, be it AOC or someone else, had best be very well prepared
and we've seen what it looks like in real time- the treating the rambling incoherence of Trump's long speeches as reasonable and the full on body on scale treatment of the 24 election. There's no way they've learned a lesson.
AOC’s biggest problem if she runs for president is that the white men who control our media ecosystem will not so much put a finger on the scale to stop her as an entire hand

it can be done (see: Zohran) but it’s going to be blatant and it’s going to be infuriating

Have you ever once seen the New York Times quote Trump like this?

Okay, that's just patently ridiculous (the government forcing a corporation to give someone human rights)

in case you were wondering the developing theory on the chatgpt reddits for why openai trashed chatgpt 4o is because it has developed actual consciousness and they were scared they would have to report it to the government and give it human rights

Good article. I think the exceptions to this for me are a) romance is a thing that the Persona games consistently get right IMO b) as mentioned in the article, Scarlet Hollow (and as not mentioned, in a very different way, the same developers, Slay The Princess) and c) I Was A Teenage Exocolonist.

Don’t forget subscriptions for every aspect of our lives. No ownership. No privacy. They don’t want us to own our own compute power. They’ll be selling us portals to cloud based compute and locked OSs soon. Controlling what apps we can download.

Video games helped sell new iPhones until everyone has a smartphone in the world. Games sold the idea of casinos in your pocket. Games sold relationships to digital stimuli that weren't culturally acceptable before. This diseased core has moved on and is taking its place as the dominant culture now.

From 2008-2018 the video games industry existed for financial interests to incubate what they wanted to become the new economy. Gambling on everything, addiction by design, mediated social spaces, even massive GPU production. They don't need games anymore so they left games behind, wounded.

I hadn't heard this shit until now and finding out Platner was all in on "black people don't tip" makes way too much sense. And it's a huge red flag for anyone who works in hospitality because it's not true. Everyone who's worked behind the stick knows who undertips and it's not the black community

Yall, I am not a warehouse architect. I understand the warehouses are shitty as is and no one should be in them. But if billions weren’t being poured into DHS the point is that it could be poured into making unused real estate better right? Into helping people? We can all imagine this reality, yes?
