A recent trend at international academic conferences is that some American participants use burner phones or minimalist laptops. Their devices often run only browsers and basic software. This resembles the security measures travelers took 15 years ago when visiting China.

When the physicists need burner phones, that’s when you know America’s changed | John Naughton
US academics, fearing persecution by their own government, are becoming ideological refugees. Europe, and Britain, must offer them sanctuary

Cuomo is garbage.
“State officials withheld daily data from their city counterparts, three of these people said, forcing de Blasio at times to present day-old information during his own daily briefings."

Public health was used as a weapon by Andrew Cuomo during the pandemic.
“[Cuomo] was irate over the site, which happened to be championed by his political nemesis” Mayor de Blasio
“Cuomo made his displeasure clear in a phone call to the Mets owner [Steve Cohen]. The governor later withheld vaccines from the facility for several weeks.” www.politico.com/news/2025/03...

This needs to be said more and loudly.
X is not worth 33 billion. He basically just paid himself $33B from another company, presumably to pay off his debts from the initial buy because he knows he'll never be able to raise the capital from X itself.

He is his own ponzi scheme.

Social Security—like American democracy itself—has never faced a crisis like Elon Musk.

The damage he's doing will be calculated for the rest of this century, but it can already be felt in the hearts of the 73 million Americans who depend on Social Security.
Elon Musk is trying to give tens of millions of older Americans heart attacks

I will mortgage my house to support the first politician who promised to rain hellfire on white collar crime the way we do on weed dealers and undocumented workers.
Elon Musk has been a walking SEC violation for a decade and no one cared. The entire Trump era could have been avoided if the US took white collar crime anywhere near as seriously as it does low level drug crime.

On a 2023 earnings call, Elon Musk boasted that Tesla had bagged “over 1 million” Cybertruck reservations and that “demand is off the charts.”

So why has the company still sold less than 50,000 trucks since customer deliveries began 14 months ago?

SCOOP: The Trump admin appears to be going into a visa database to quietly change students' immigration status. It's coming entirely by surprise — setting students up to be detained without warning.

It's Mahmoud Khalil & Rumeysa Ozturk — on a wider scale.

looked up the clip just because sometimes people change his words for captions that end up innocently reshared, but upon finding it decided to share the video because hearing him say it makes it 1000% more definitely true and everyone will listen/believe more than reading it written out

You know, I’ve seen Democrats flail before, but I genuinely can’t recall the last time the leadership and many of their senior membership was this completely rudderless

I’m glad I waited to watch severance until just now because there’s no way I’d be happy waiting 3 years with that ending.

But also I would’ve watched sooner if it had been described as horror

Trying to watch Severance and I’d never used AppleTV+ on my PS4. It overrode my TV’s picture settings in a way no other app has done and I can’t get fix it. Fascinating how technology works. Hate it.

Last year I formed a grassroots group to find out why the DuPont Clinic’s lease was cancelled in Beverly Hills. We uncovered city officials & councilmembers working with antiabortion extremists. DuPont has mostly lost their lawsuit against the city & now the city is going after them for legal fees.
Don’t ever be lulled into thinking that ‘pro-choice’ states are immune from doing scary shit. And boy oh boy is this story scary.
