It's revealing about taboos around racism that the visceral bullying racism of schoolboy Farage cuts through while the much more consequential thinly veiled racism of adult Farage doesn't. Many people need that veil and flinch when it's removed. You can advocate racist policies but not say the words

Farage banging 🇷🇺 Putin’s drum for him again. I’d missed this one regarding Russia’s novichok attack on British soil that killed a British woman.

How can anyone who considers themselves patriotic vote for him or his party?
Farage has been dismissing evidence of Russian ties to the Salisbury Novichok attack since 2018 🧐

If they both exist and like him, they will doubtless come forward to explain how they know what he was up to even when he was nowhere near them.
Nigel Farage says he won't release the names of his former school friends who have written to him to say he definitely wasn't a massive racist and anti-semite, because journalists will: "chase after them and make their life a misery"

There is no easy solution. "Making Brexit work" won't cut it.
EU does see UK as partner but won't just give us what we want if we say please nicely.

Maybe Starmer is really trying the Canute strategy: look I told you we can't hold the tide back.

I try to be optimistic.

The WI has been trans inclusive since the 70s, before I was born. Do you see who in this scenario was innocently minding their own business, coming to their own arrangements locally? Do you see who is forcefully imposing themselves and their demands upon others, via threats.

Think this is a good example of my theory that "the most risk averse interpretation of regulation" often matters far more than what regulation actually says.
The Women's Institute has been forced into excluding trans women too
"Not doing so would leave us at risk of costly legal challenge and potential regulatory action from the Charity Commission. We have a public duty to ensure our charity is not in breach of the law."

100% wrong.

Russia fought to annihilate Ukraine. Ukraine fought to survive as an independent nation. Territory is secondary in this war.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio says that if Ukraine takes the right steps, its GDP could surpass Russia’s within 10 years.

"They are literally fighting over a 30-50 km strip in Donetsk, roughly 20% of the region still under Ukrainian control and now a central issue in negotiations."
