Al right, listen up, our fugitive has been on the run for 15 hours. Average foot speed of a jacked Pop Tart, barring injuries, is 4 miles per hour. That gives us a radius of 60 miles.

Your fugitive's name is Slammin' Strawberry. Go get him.

Mars Attacks, I think we saw it opening weekend (because my dad really likes movies and was excited about it) and I was 9yo, it gave me nightmares for sure

Not to mention the frivolous lawsuits that targeted Ozzy Osbourne and Judas Priest for subliminally encouraging teen listeners to attempt suicide
Remember:

When Tylenol was poisoned *by an outsider* and killed people, the company recalled all their products & redesigned them.

When Intel’s Pentium had a bug so obscure it affected 1 in _9 billion_ long division calculations, they recalled their chips.

ChatGPT was made deadly *by its team*.
i don’t see how any of the benefits of chatgpt and other consumer-facing LLMs can possibly outweigh their incredible ability to induce suicides

The University of Michigan has partnerships with OpenAI and also developed its own proprietary GPT (that students are encouraged to use)

Do we know UM-GPT is safer than ChatGPT? Will UM-GPT encourage self-harm or worse?
By any reasonable historical standard — including that of the technology industry! — ChatGPT should be pulled from the market and its product managers and executives held accountable for creating a product that ROUTINELY tells teens to kill themselves. This is a basic, common sense standard.

I know there's no ethical consumption under capitalism, but the lowest bar is to stop using Spotify. Even if you don't pay, STOP USING SPOTIFY.
Yeah, this dum dum is talking about chicken pox.

Anyway, it's very cool and awesome that he has so much cultural and political influence.

To me, this point resonates with the music cultures in the US I am part of/study (classical and popular music in a broad sense) and the way different identity groups are siloed into specific genres/aesthetic spaces by the market (in popular music) and/or media as well as other institutions (in both)
In many ways what we’re seeing is a political contest between the idea non-white people can be successfully “civilized” into the European ideal or represent a threat of replacement. The fact both of these propositions are racist seems to be beside the point for many.

+1 to this. i have taken to trying to do a 30 minute jog on the treadmill most days and it has done wonders for my health and general state of mind.
not gonna evangelize about it but tbh coming to understand the value of cardio is one of the biggest positive changes I've made of any kind to my adult life, for whatever that's worth
Fitness gurus are always knocking cardio. Well, the elliptical is super effectively for weight loss. It’s low impact so you can do it for long time periods, every day. I can burn 800-1000 calories in an hour. I can do it daily. I lost 100 lbs once doing nothing but that damned boring elliptical.

I understand a lot of people genuinely struggle with social relationships, but unfortunately that’s the price of living in a world where good thinking is often a collaborative endeavor. You are not thinking collaboratively with an LLM because the LLM is not thinking at all.
