My statement on the Homeland Security funding bill.
I am heartbroken by the passing of Reverend Jackson. We have lost a giant in the movement for civil rights, but his legacy lives on in every young person he encouraged and every barrier he helped break down.

The Walk for Peace today was a special moment in a time of chaos. It was an honor to see the Buddhist monks as they finished their 2,300-mile-long pilgrimage to Washington, DC.

The video Trump posted of Barack and Michelle Obama is beyond disgusting, blatantly racist, and a disgrace to the office.

I always say we must reject hatred of any kind whenever we see it— and that means calling this out loudly and clearly.

Barriers immigrants with disabilities face in the immigration system have long existed – it's far past time we address this blatant discrimination. Individuals with disabilities are legally entitled to accommodations that meet their specific needs, including those detained by ICE.

The Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge belongs to all of us… What does it mean to you?

Here is an opportunity to share your honest, constructive feedback with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to help improve the visitor center. Deadline to submit is February 6.

It is critical that regulators provide ongoing oversight to ensure WDI does not endanger the surrounding community or the environment.

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) renewed a hazardous waste operating license for Wayne Disposal Inc. (WDI). I am disappointed the state didn’t take into account our community’s serious concerns and broad opposition to the facility’s expansion.

Across our nation, we watch in horror and anger at the violence in Minnesota. Joined faith and community leaders in an interfaith vigil to honor Alex Pretti and Renee Good and to pray for peace, courage, justice, and that we never grow tired of doing good.
January 28, 2026 at 9:58 PM
In the wake of another tragedy in Minnesota, please join local leaders and me for an interfaith vigil honoring those murdered by ICE and speaking out against ICE’s ongoing terror in communities across America, tomorrow, Jan. 27 at 6PM. Please bring a source of light.

Local levels of government should be in charge of their cities, not ICE.
January 24, 2026 at 11:15 PM
Another American citizen was brutally killed this morning by ICE. Alex Jeffrey Pretti was a nurse at VA working to help others. We need an independent and transparent investigation. Communities are being terrorized across our country. ICE needs to leave Minneapolis.

Uber must act now to address sexual assault by their drivers, improve their background check process, and work with all levels of government to explore what additional safety measures are necessary and feasible under state laws.

There is no acceptable trade-off when the cost is sexual assault. Every delay and every excuse puts lives at risk.

It’s Detroit Auto Show time again. The car prom as we call it. The mood was upbeat. Great cars and trucks. Fun to see many friends. Loved seeing Mayor Sheffield for the first time at the show in her new role. May this be a good start of the year for our domestic auto industry.

Joined @jayapal.house.gov to speak to our @demwomencaucus.bsky.social colleagues about the importance of Medicare for All.

Healthcare is a right, not a privilege. You should be able to go to the doctor when you need to go to the doctor and get the medicine you need when you need it.
