Former Washington Post journalists have launched a GoFundMe to help repatriate fired staff members who are effectively stranded in foreign countries.

One of the richest men in the world fired them from the paper and didn’t even pay to ensure they got home.

I feel like Los Angeles is a place where people expect ICE to happen because the kidnappings have been happening to my home city for decades, so there’s less media attention to it now. and I want folks to see that in LA, Latine students are organizing major protests & the police are attacking them

LAPD arrested at least two teenagers protesting ICE raids in Los Angeles yesterday. They were also seen corresponding with ICE agents on Alameda Street during the demonstrations.

Concentration camps. That's what they are.
I’m not sure we’ve properly addressed how profoundly disturbing it is that America can largely shrug at the stashing of human beings in giant warehouses.

He pleaded with them to stop but they just “laughed at me and hit me again.”

“They were very racist people,” he said. “No one insulted them, neither me nor the other person they detained me with. It was their character, their racism toward us, for being immigrants.”

Response to "what do you think of ICE enforcement?"

I don't think they can be rightly called enforcement actions. Properly, the actions of ICE are an invasion, an attempted coup, levying war on the United States, genocide, ethnic cleansing, terrorism, crimes against humanity, and human trafficking.

In the greater story of Minneapolis’ resistance to ICE, one chapter absolutely belongs to the punks organizing at every level. They’re observing, fundraising, running supplies, opening their spaces, coordinating, etc.

A story for @rollingstone.com. Thanks to everyone who spoke on the record.

Representative DeLauro tells her brown grandson to carry his passport with him at all times. But won't call for the abolition of ICE.

That's pretty much all you need to know.
“I would rather you vote for what is morally correct,” Davidson said.

“Don’t talk to me about my own morality,” DeLauro shot back.

“Don’t tell your constituents what they can and can’t talk to you about,” replied Rev. Nathan Empsall. “What you are voting for is not moral.”

I cannot stand the "this is a good start" discourse. The Democrats in Congress do not want to abolish ICE. They have proposed a series of bog-standard reforms regurgitated by a think tank. Everyone knows they do not work. The Democrats supporting this do not care. They just want to move on.

AWFUL news tonight. This blesses the “mandatory” detention in the 5th Circuit without bond (and little chance at habeas) of every undocumented immigrant who originally entered across the border, no matter how many decades in the past.

It will fuel ICE’s push to transfer people to Texas immediately.
BREAKING: A 5th Circuit panel has backed ICE's mass detention policy, a decision that clears the way for the administration to lock up people who are in immigration proceedings

It's a 2-1 ruling
Majority: Jones (Reagan), Duncan (Trump)
Minority: Douglas (Obama)

This is such an important point about the noise that Schumer and Jeffries are making about DHS's masking bit . . . LAPD is refusing to enforce a new California law that requires DHS to be unmasked.

Nice how they suddenly can choose not to criminalize people
Especially when that's already happening in Los Angeles...we have immediate precedent for law enforcement disregarding this particular law with impunity.

The Satanic Day Care Panic, QAnon, and Pizzagate were moral panics. They relied on distorted, exaggerated, and misconstrued interpretations of the underlying facts. What Epstein did is real. It is not a "moral panic" to call for investigation and punishment of those who participated in his crimes.

NEW: Abigail Spanberger this afternoon ordered that all state agencies leave ICE's 287(g) program.

This means that the state police (and some other agencies) will no longer be empowered to detain and arrest people for ICE.
