There is no such thing a accidental cruelty, it just doesn't exist. Some actions may be attributed to ignorance, but the second someone says "Hey, that hurts!" and you continue that action, it becomes (and always was) cruel and it's the point of the action.

One thing I'd like to add to this is that not only does conversion therapy not work, the academic work that launched an industry of abuse was based on fraud; Rekers and Lovaas' "Sissy Boy" experiment, the child subjected to it later took his own life

The problem of conversion therapy is, as ever, not that conversion therapy doesn't work (although that's true) but that it constitutes an act of violence to suppress almost exclusively vulnerable people's core psychological development and that is devastating.

As much as I could empathise before being disabled, I absolutely get it now.
Hell because of how fucked the system is, I'd have an easier time getting access to the government services I need if I smoked all my life, even though my disabilities have nothing to do with it.

It’s weird noticing even the people who seem to be deriving maximum benefit from genAI are ALSO miserable from it. I haven’t had a job in a year because it’s destroyed my career and livelihood, meanwhile the people who should be profiting from it can’t unplug long enough to watch a movie anymore
