Is it time for my self-defense lecture again?

Lots of folks ask me what the best self-defense thing is to train. I always answer: track and field.

The best thing you can do to defend yourself is not be where someone can hurt you. Running away is ideal.

At this point I’m just assuming that it’s a job requirement for these positions.
Police in Bloomington, MN just announced that one of the guys they arrested in an underage sex trafficking sting was a **background checker for ICE agents.**

He had a high security clearance in the Trump administration... and he was caught trying to abuse children. Sickening.

Phew! Just finished a small book on ICE. It’s a short primer on ICE, CBP & Border Patrol. Who are they? What can they do? Why are they like this? What should we do? Off to my publisher for edits, then we will first put it out as an e-book. If it has traction, might be printed.

I love that the political message is only “suspected” because nobody at Fox News speaks Spanish or understands art.

Would it be a Chicago vote if it didn’t include at least some attempts to encourage folks to vote early and vote often?

Vote for “Abolish Ice” (or don’t, I’m not the boss of you).
NEW: Mayor Brandon Johnson and the Department of Streets and Sanitation announced the top 25 names chosen in the City’s fourth annual ‘You Name A Snowplow’ contest. In the next phase, Chicago residents may vote for up to six names at chicagoshovels.org by Feb. 14.

I kept getting looks all day while I was out… and finally someone said “I LOVE your shirt”. And I was reminded of what I was wearing.

Kind of wish I had remembered when I got the funny weird looks. But maybe the kind smile along with the shirt towards a sneer was the best move.

Visited a reminder of a different era.

Was an impulse visit so I didn’t do the full subterranean tour this time (I’ve done it multiple times), but was in the neighborhood, and I have a membership, so I figured it was a good way to spend a bit of time.

The Justice Department has abdicated its role in seeking accountability for a second fatal shooting by a federal agent in Minneapolis. Under any previous administration, DOJ would’ve launched civil rights investigations into the use of force.

This is how you almost guarantee repeat events, and normalize this set of (lack of) response for others in similar situations.

This is *insane*.
CBP chief Bovino has confirmed that the officers who executed Alex Pretti in the street yesterday are not only *not on administrative leave,* they have all been reassigned to other jurisdictions and are all on the street today.

This is totally unheard of for any officer-involved shooting

Shumate and Roth are such central parts of this apparatus that they should be part and parcel with all of the anti-Noem / anti-DHS / anti-ICE rhetoric and movement.

If you can think of a major legal event in this administration, there is a good chance one, or both, of them were lead on them.
BREAKING: At the Eighth Circuit, DOJ — including senior lawyers — argues that yesterday's shooting of Alex Pretti "ha[s] nothing to do with" the lawsuit over DHS violations of people's First/Fourth Amendment rights in Minnesota.

Fucking *really* peacock? The final twenty minutes. A major battle for overall first, and you break for commercials? Thank god there’s other sources. But that’s what’s easy to watch on the tv.
