Truly. I am begging white liberals to stop pronouncing the death of democracy or America. This place has always been cruel to the people it knows it can exploit for profit. The only change is that you're on that list now too.

Corey Booker prefers to retrain these thugs and give them toy cameras because he doesn’t give a shit about the constitution.
🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional!

ICE then hid the memo from the public, passing it along by word of mouth and private conversation.

A culture where this kind of overt we're-breaking-the-law-and-have-to-hide-it can happen and filter down the ranks and go for months before a whistleblower reveals it, as opposed to everyone immediately going "hell no that's crazy and illegal," is not fixable or reformable. Burn it to the ground.

I won’t say anything bad about first generation immigrants who trend socially conservative and want to fit in and get some tax breaks. That’s common.

But Cubans. Cubans.
Cuban Americans have consistently voted Republican for more than a half century. Miami Cubans swung massively toward Trump. Now, to their shock and surprise, Trump is deporting them in record numbers.

Rubio gonna get got by some angry gusanos
This is the brutal reality of authoritarian politics.
Communities that cheered Trump are now being deported in record numbers.
Loyalty means nothing to regimes built on cruelty — they always turn on their own.

Trump says at Davos he won’t use force to siege Greenland he wants to buy it.

Me thinks we’re all reacting to his insanity without waiting to see the bluff for what it is. We’re still taking him too seriously.

Carney is a rules beneficiary and taker and the reason he has the space to theatrically moralize with a smug complex of unrecognized superiority is because of America’s protection, yes even as trump declares wild and theatrical bully shit threats. The same goes for Europe.

Davos was a brand launch.

If Europe splits with America it would be one of the most monumental strategic defeats in European history, and many of them would likely reverse course on holding Russia in contempt out of necessity.

Is this a Europe you can imagine? Because I cannot.

In the end the choice is America or Russia.

That’s more money than the vast majority of Americans will ever see — much less donate.

But what has made Trump’s second presidency so uniquely Trumpian is how everybody in the ruling party’s elite seems to know they – and the nation – are all at the mercy of the sudden whims of a mad-king leader. And the entirety of the GOP is just… going with it, as they simultaneously beg for more.
“Trump has taken a sledgehammer to the American democratic fabric, molding the whole of government into his own personal fiefdom.”

Zeteo’s politics team analyzes Trump’s first year back in office and the damage done by his authoritarian administration.

Okay, question:

Assuming that you have to pick a new leader from an existing Senate Dem (so you've got 44 non-Chuck options)

Who would you vote for as the new Senate Minority Leader, if it was up to you? Genuinely curious

I hardly feel Democrats disagree.
I think Republican lawmakers feel like Americans who aren't already prosperous are just a burden on the wealthy. Of no value and needy. At least that's what I'm getting from what they're saying and doing all the time.

Since 2008-2009 it had been clear that elites failed to lead, and America was losing primacy of place and coasting on inertia. We all wondered how it would end. And it would end in the absolute stupidest way possible.
i'm going to spend the rest of my life figuring out how a small band of elites decided that acting as the global currency and primary military hegemon was gay and feminine coded
