People who use this technology do not want to be taught about a topic; they want the end result of having learned, without learning. I would guess for many this describes a feature, not a bug, of the technology.
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

"If you hate GenAI you're going to have to stop playing new games when they all start using it"

My brother in Christ, my backlog is literally thousands of games long. I have lifetimes worth of earlier titles to play, & I will gladly do that instead of boiling the oceans for a new CoD or whatever

Your last saved meme is your moral philosophy

I don't often save memes but my friend's wedding brilliantly had a scrapbook station instead of a guestbook and that is fertile ground for meme vibes

I just got my hair cut by a woman who has us all beat. She owns the shop but she also works two hours a week bussing at a fancy hotel restaurant so she can get employee deals at fancy hotels.

And two days a week she slings bags for Delta so she can fly wherever she wants for free.

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

Beautiful and heartbreaking. Christmas Island also has the wonderful migrating red crabs 🦀 (Gecarcoidea natalis) which are threatened* by introduced species. Island ecosystems are precious!

*colloquialism because they don't have an IUCN assessment and might not before it's too late

I was let go from my phd lab in a way that looked a lot like being fired, but I couldn't take advantage of employment-related antidiscrimination laws because my research was considered a class. Student antidiscrimination policies were not equipped to handle it so my advisor was free to discriminate.
One way to improve working conditions for PhD students is for universities to classify them as employees since that's what they are, and another way is to form a union. Grad students are not children and deserve full worker protections and health benefits.
