the “hard left” of course has no idea what it feels like to make a good faith effort to reach out which was met with rejection, betrayal, or libel
I think a lot of hard left accounts on here don’t fully realize the extent to which the center-left genuinely believes they made a good faith effort to reach out which was met with rejection, betrayal, and libel. You may not think it accurate or fair, but the belief is sincerely held.

It’s such a perfect encapsulation of how the right drives American media cycles that slightly-too-long school closures are still considered a huge liability for democrats while murdering hundreds of thousands of people with anti-vaxx propaganda is never mentioned as a downside of Republican rule.
Matthew Yglesias identifying the Democratic Party's electoral issues: school closures during covid, "paralysis on women's sports" and "candidates running on late-term abortions"

love that it's called WelcomeFest and the agenda is "people we need to alienate to win"

I really love the messaging of "do it you coward" when the hostage here is... the entire United States economy. I love when my opposition party's strongest plank is encouraging the senile lunatic to pull the trigger and destroy 350 million peoples' lives

The Washington Post will sharply expand its opinion offerings, including with articles from other publications, according to people familiar with the plan. A final phase, allowing nonprofessionals to submit columns with help from an A.I. writing coach called Ember, could begin testing this fall.
The Washington Post Plans an Influx of Outside Opinion Writers
A new program, known internally as Ripple, would open The Post to journalists at other publications and influential writers on Substack.

If we’re just dismissing the desire for money as intentional evil you’re left with very few forms of intentional evil

at minimum, humans chose to do things knowing those things would exacerbate climate change with a complete disregard for the outcome. they did so in possession of the scientific evidence to know what would happen.

you can distinguish bt that and intentionality if you want, I guess

New — On X the Minneapolis PD said they were only present at the ICE raid protest "to ensure the crowd and the surrounding area remained safe," but photos shared directly with me show Police Chief Brian O'Hara personally escorting federal agents off Lake Street where protest took place.

Reading this interview with Maksim Borisov, a gay Russian dissident who sought asylum in the US last year only for ICE to arrest and detain him in February.

He's currently held in Eloy Detention Center in Arizona where he says "trans people… just disappear."

I know one of my core competencies is blaming everything on Dems but there would have been a counter narrative if Dems didn’t cowardly pivot right. it lent legitimacy to these lies and made it seem like there was a consensus.

It's really not. When Dems bother fighting back with arguments, they easily win this issue every time. When they stick their head in the sand and ignore it, they lose.

The joke here is that this doesn't work as an electoral comms strategy (many Dems including Biden-Harris have tried and failed) or a public persuasion strategy so public opinion keeps getting pulled to the right and all Third Way can recommend is "guess we have to go further to the right"
Trans people: we would like to participate in society.

Anti-trans activists: trans people should not exist.
