Bearing witness from #canada
Walz: "What's happening in MN defies belief. News reports simply don't do justice to the level of chaos & disruption & trauma the federal govt is raining down... This long ago stopped being a matter of immigration enforcement. Instead, it's a campaign of organized brutality against the people of MN"

Damning editorial at the Star of Ford’s blue box program. Corporate socialism is the way to term it, it’s how Greenbelt et al went. Benefit for the few, not the most.

Once again, it’s all reported on. It’s there but Ontario voters don’t seem to care & will continue to eat GFL-full trucks of shit.
Star Editorial Board: Ontario’s botched Blue Box reform is a showcase for everything wrong with Doug Ford’s Ontario
Ontario's revamped curbside recycling regime has been so watered down it can no longer reasonably be expected to achieve the policy goals for which it was originally designed.

This is a heartening read. I live in a mature neighbourhood and am very excited to know that more renters and first time buyers will be able to enjoy the benefits of living in this wonderful spot.
NEW POST

While cities across North America struggle with housing shortages, Edmonton is proving that zoning reform works.

In 2025, for the first time in history, the number of homes permitted in 5-8 unit rowhomes surpassed detached homes. 🧵

Design creating appropriate and balanced flow; #fengshui for our streets and urban fabric.
Safe streets aren't smooth, they have friction.

This design uses curbs, bollards, and pavement color differentiation to create visual friction. It forces the driver to slow down and engage with their surroundings.

No sign can do the work of proper design.

Larger, heavier, vehicles are more likely to kill, and they do significantly more damage to roads and infrastructure thus costing municipalities, and everyone who pays taxes, a great deal more.

We inevitably subsidize those who can afford the biggest vehicles.

Check out the Damage Calculator ->
You're a Frank in the year 814 when you learn that your beloved emperor Charlemagne has died. You're so distraught that you grab your bicycle and just start riding. You finally stop in 2025 after 1,211 years.

You still have a decade of riding left before you've done the damage of one pickup truck.
December 16, 2025 at 10:58 PM
Indeed,😒 design that kills is good for #ego not for cities or people.
I'm 5'9 inches and this pickup truck, one of many parked on my street, has a hood at over 60 inches or 120 cm tall. If this hit me, a grown adult, I would not survive. The mass of this truck makes stopping quicky difficult.

It doesn't help that the known ways to improve surface transit are neglected in #Toronto. It's like the people who design these systems have never been overseas where the #transit is amazing. #Ontario & #Canada must do better! #lightrail can be awesome
I’ll be blunt, i’m a long time transit fan who is sick of the hate for streetcars and LRT, it’s immature and makes me think the people who hate surface rail and closet pro car.
Tired: The LRT is just a streetcar
Inspired: What if we go the other way -
