The officer who shot Alex worked for DHS for 8 years. The officer who shot Renee worked for DHS for over 10 years. Both are considered “highly trained.”

The problem isn’t "training." DHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity. We must MELT ICE and dismantle DHS.

This is fascinating data on violations by vehicle type for Chicago's bus/bike lane automated enforcement program. What's immediately obvious is just how badly we need to expand loading zones. But this isn't news to anybody who rides a bike in the city.

While Superbowl LX may be a close game, the competition for stadium urbanism between its contenders is NOT! Gillette Stadium is an hour from Boston by train, while Lumen Field is a stone's throw from Downtown Seattle.

Whether a football stadium actually belongs in a city, however, is up for debate.

Our country was founded on resistance to a tyrant.
Attorney General Pam Bondi: "Our country was founded on law enforcement"
Bondi: "It's extremely organized. The signs they have are all matching, they're well written. And look at what's happening today. How did these people go out & get gas masks? These protesters. Would you know how to walk out on the street and buy a gas mask? Think about that. We're not gonna have it"

It's astonishing, but this is sanctionable misconduct in that case, and also criminally referable. A party to a case is literally threatening the other, with violence and retaliation, outside of the court. This is no different from walking up to them on the courthouse steps and threatening a party.

Chuck, maybe you could call your Senator about it? The Senate switchboard can be reached at (202) 224-3121. If the Senior Senator from New York and Senate Minority Leader isn't in, leave a recorded message.

I made the Europeans big mad with this post.

Obviously as a scientific unit of measurement, Celsius is superior. But for everyday use as it relates to the weather, I think Fahrenheit is better.

As for the US switching to the metric system... juice just ain't worth the squeeze.

Since the dawn of the automobile, Chicago has steadily ceded green space to drivers. One of the best examples of this is Palmer Square.

In the 1920s, the Parks District fed the demand for higher speeds by replacing the boulevard's graceful curves with linear roads plowed through the park.

Helluva take. This crash wouldn't have happened had the apartment units been affordable and not luxury housing? I mean, yes, the streets around here are a mess, but 4th Ave has been a dangerous drag strip forever, long before any rezoning.

Interesting reflection on the lessons for local progressives that can be learned from Kat's campaign.
I really don't think people in the progressive/left organizing world of Chicago realize that it's quite possible Kat Abugazaleh wins out over Biss in spite of everything, and that this would be an existential crisis for Chicago progressives.
