Could have stood to take a little further with a "we've even got consumers that actively HATE any mention of AI and now refuse to buy new products that talk about it!"

Because I'm sure as fuck NOT confused about it.

It’s a “child’s” view of democracy to say a candidate doesn’t has to do or say anything - they just have to be 1 less bad than the other guy and they are entitled to every thinking person’s vote.

I say this is a child’s view because it’s what children believe.
This is a child’s view of the world. People absolutely have a responsibility to vote for the future that seems better. That’s how democracy works.

Sticking your fingers in your ears and going nah nah nah I can’t hear you doesn’t absolve you of that basic responsibility.

Everyone deserves shelter, food, water & healthcare.

Even the people you don’t like.

Even the people you feel made “bad lifestyle choices”

Even the people who you don’t think “contribute enough”

Every person should have their basic needs met

This shouldn’t be controversial.

What the Everloving fuck?
Dr Oz says they’re withholding all Medicaid funds for Minnesota.

This will kill people.

They’re going to force the most vulnerable to suffer to score political points.

There are other ways to address alleged fraud that don’t involve leaving the disabled, poor and marginalized without healthcare.

It's good to use the resources at hand to fight because sometimes you win. Also, I keep thinking of the period after this man was killed and how a group of people tried to impose a new social reality. It didn't work. This too is a lesson.

Pretty much the only way I'll do it.

No, not just going alone to the theater.

I'm talking being completely alone in the theater.

Too many of ya'll still want people like me DEAD. 🤷‍♂️🫠
It's perfectly fine and healthy to see movies in theaters by yourself. I consider it meditative.
This place needs some Innocuous Discourse pronto. Quote this with a take that’s not political or aggressive

Disabled people are not expendable.

The elderly are not expendable.

Children are not expendable.

Worth should never be tied to economic productivity.

If we protected the most vulnerable in society, everyone would be better off.

One of the side effects of being one of "the oldz" is when you watch a video by a younger whippersnapper and they state that video games did not exist in 1970, you cannot help but tell them about Spacewars! and other primitive video games.

Sounds a little too familiar.

Guess I'll go wash the dishes again. 🤪
There's a lot of abject horror in the world, and I've had some various frustrating unpleasantnesses in the last year or two, but I'll be damned if I will let go of my capacity for experiencing joy whenever I can. 🖤

"There is no condition in which the humanities are under attack in which the whole university is not under attack. There is no condition in which the university is under attack that the whole of U.S. educational infrastructure, public and private, from pre-K up, is not under attack."
This was published in the dead week between Christmas and New Year’s. If you work in education & were, reasonably, taking a break, maybe you missed it.

Don’t miss it.
The ‘Crisis of the Humanities’ Is Over. That’s Not a Good Thing.

This is excellent (finally got a chance to read it). It’s an unmasking of the interconnected forces attacking *all* of higher ed. The exposing of the edtech industrial complex, represented by the truly awful Instructure/Canvas (now in partnership with OpenAI) is esp important. I plan to share widely

Farewell to Sidney Kibrick (1928-2026) the last of THE LITTLE RASCALS.

He played Butch’s sidekick Woim in 26 OUR GANG comedies and was also a Dead End Kid in William Wyler's DEAD END (1937).

He retired at 15 but continued making appearances and receiving fan mail for the rest of his life. #FilmSky

it is kind of wild that you can just be watching a fuckin hitler pop off and start invading places and snatching heads of state for a second act, but if you say the thing that you want to happen to him in order to stop that, it would be considered violent

The memory-holing of Jan. 6 over the last five years, starting nearly the next day but really reaching its deciding point at U.S. Senate acquittal, is one of the most successful and catastrophic propaganda campaigns in American history.

I know people believe that the Democrats are in the minority and can't do anything. I would encourage you to read about how, in fact, minority parties can be disruptive. If they want to be. You don't even have to read. You can just see how the Republicans acted during the Obama years.

The end goal of Grok sexual harassment is to make women afraid to be visible. It’s a punishment for daring to exist in a way the perpetrators can’t control. There’s no one solution to this, because the problem isn’t just technological. It’s cultural. It’s misogyny. This is just one expression of it.
