I knew they blamed immigrants for everything, but I didn’t think they would blame immigrant cows for hamburger prices.

It’s no wonder why the Trump Administration is trying to hide economic data.

I would say that he is a fool and a weakling but that would imply that his trade war was ever anything else but a scam to generate insider information so friends and family could get rich shorting stocks. (2/2)

Trump lost his trade war in every possible sense. It hurt the economy; it made us look ludicrous and lawless; and it gave Beijing a chance to reach for world power. And there is nothing Trump can do about any of this except back down and blame others. (1/2)

Yeah, "Trump crashes the dollar" has haunted me more than "Trump launches the nukes" for the past 10 months, because I think the former is more likely to occur and the destruction will be multi-generational, probably unrecoverable.
The end of dollar hegemony will transform U.S. debt from a fiscal drag into a high-yield fusion bomb.

For decades dollarization has generated structural demand for U.S. treasuries, depressing the interest rates the U.S. needs to offer to service its debt.
one thing that I think we really don't think about is if Trump fucks up America's macro privileges or role in the international system and Americans are forced to end up dealing with a economic system that doesn't allow for the same old fiscal fixes as before

The thing about CTH and Christman in particular was, they ABSOLUTELY knew what they were doing.

They knew how to walk right up to the edge of plausible deniability with their own content.

You don't walk that line that expertly without some expertise.

What is never going to get acknowledged is that the Cum Town/Red Scare/True Anon edgelord podcast scene was ALWAYS playing around with Nazi tropes and memes.

And Chapo Trap House served as a laundering service that platformed them while calling anyone naming the Nazi shit crazy.

The entire world, 2026: oh wow all these people we did "dirtbag left" profiles on turned into Nazis. How did that happen? The world may never know

Not “he didn’t blow someone”

Not “he didn’t blow someone named Bubba”

Not “Putin doesn’t have pictures of it”

Just “the Bubba he blew wasn’t Bill Clinton”

Somehow I don’t think the MAGA base will excuse him because of that distinction.

This is why, on our server, we ended our rules list with “management reserves the right to refuse entry.”

ie: if you have technically not broken any rules, but you’re still upsetting people in spite of having the “Why This Is Not Okay” private discussion multiple times, we are done.
And that this is a byproduct of “there is no way to write, much less enforce, perfect rules that will catch all bad things and let all good things pass”, not least because all categories have edge cases and we all have our personal faves whose context should be Known.

There is no viable path toward financial stability for anything in AI. It’s all gonna collapse and our economy is going to tank as a result of so many institutions carelessly hedging their bets on it.
Some great charts on #AI from the Wall Street Journal. t.ly/xvvbw "AI products would have to create an additional $650 billion a year, indefinitely, to give investors a reasonable 10% annual return. That’s more than 150% of Apple’s yearly revenue"

The Federalist Society was founded in 1982 in response AGAINST recent SCOTUS decisions favoring working class, minorities and women

Society members represent <5% of all US attorneys yet hold a 2/3 SCOTUS majority.

How? Decades of right wing $billionaire racist propaganda and a corrupt GOP

How she was bullied to protect Dershowitz
To be very clear, Virginia Giuffre was made to say she mistakenly identified Alan Dershowitz as one of the people who sexually abused her. Here is the proof from this week's Epstein files dropped by the House Oversight Committee.

a few people have replied along these lines, and it's incorrect in exactly the way I'm trying highlight.

it suggests that wealth is primarily the effect of their [evil] choices. But lots of depraved people don't get rich! Also most rich people don't "get rich," they're born rich and stay rich
We are propagandized from birth about how intelligent rich people are, by rich people, in an attempt to hide the fact that to become that wealthy all you really need to be is a depraved sociopath

That’s created a de facto soft-budget constraint.

U.S. policymakers have been able to run deficits rather than make tough fiscal choices.

If that goes away — especially if it happens quickly because the idiots running our government destroy the foundations of 💵 dominance — we’re truly fucked.
