Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

I got to sit next to Wil Wheaton at the Phoenix airport because I had a power strip and he let me plug it into the outlet nearby so more people could charge their phones.

Senator Padilla was forcibly removed from DHS Secretary Kristi Noem’s press conference in Los Angeles while attempting to ask a question.

Padilla was thrown down and handcuffed. A senator in his own state! (He has since been released.)

In honor of Trump unironically attending Les Mis, I will unironically repost the thread of which I am likely most proud:

Why Les Mis was an ahead-of-its-time primer on the cause and harms of mass incarceration (with citations).
I saw on the news this morning that Les Mis is returning to the stage in France, inspired to import over here what I think was my greatest thread Over There.

Les Mis debuted in 1980, just as mass incarceration was taking off. It warned us, we didn't listen. Its lyrics are a syllabus on CJ reform:

Interviewer: Can you explain this gap in your resume?
...
Theatre Arts Major: Just because there are no words on the page does not mean that nothing is happening. A brief hiatus provides time for nonverbal character interaction, personal motivation development, and preparation for new revelations.
Interviewer: Can you explain this gap in your resume?
Premodern Gender Historian: Almost all surviving sources about that period are from elite men. I certainly was doing work then but it was not considered important or relevant by the chroniclers or may have been in perishable foods or textiles.
Interviewer: Can you explain this gap in your resume.

Classicist: why yes, that was the age of gold, when folks free from care lived out their lives in gentle leisure. The earth too was free from harm, not touched by a rake nor wounded by any plows, but gave everything of her own accord.

Rahaeli's built a deserved rep for exegetic long-form threads of fascinating import, but this one is superb even by those standards. Scroll to the top, do not miss.
And Francis's response, basically, was that while the catechism of the Church is important and people should follow it because that's what it means to be Catholic, we're all imperfect beings and none of us is free from sin, and also these things you're concerned about are WAY down the priority list.

Hey, I'm going to do this, and I hope you will too. Not because I think a one day pause will be a devastating blow, but because coordinated action takes practice, and if you don't do the small stuff, you will have a harder time gearing up for the big stuff.
