Lots of folks in publishing are returning to make the books tomorrow, so just a reminder to treat industry people like people in the New Year.

Everyone is just trying their best. ❤️

I'm boosting myself to say this:

You're going to see people On Here tell you calling electeds doesn't matter. That's not true.

Some are bots. Some are people who like being contrary to be edgy.

But calling moves the needle, especially against a blatantly illegal act by Trump and Co. ACT.
Candid answer - as someone who handled constituent affairs calls for years - while they’re not checking the phone right now, the urgency of the moment is important.

Show them you care enough to make the weekend call, and be counted that way. Staffers will clock and report this upstream.
Is there actually a benefit to leaving a VM now vs getting a staffer on Monday? Can do both but just curious

THIS. Use @5calls.org and @resist.bot . Call volume by category absolutely matters and can change minds in red districts. We've seen it force them to go back on many things.
You don't have to give a big speech. They're counting numbers - seeing how many constituents care enough to call in. Just tell them to impeach for this illegal war. Also, make sure you only call YOUR reps - they don't care about out-of-district calls.

You can do this. It'll just take a minute. 💪

Congrats 2027 authors, your book drops next year.
Pretty neat to think about how if you have a book out in 2027, in just a few days, you’ll have a book out NEXT YEAR.

Got a few pokes about if I’ll open to queries again this year.

Probably not til the baby sleeps through the night.

I can give my job extra time or give that time to this little girl, and that’s not really a hard decision. ❤️

Been cooking all day and now I’m putting together Tupperwares of collard greens and black eyed peas for my neighbors so they’ll have good luck and oh my god I’ve become my uncle.

May this year bring you that phone call and/or email you’ve been waiting for.

Let’s get that yes. ❤️

Building sublists for the New Year, and it’s always so upsetting to see an editor I adore left the business or was let go.

So much of an agent’s job is getting to know our editor friends well, so we can send them what they love.

When publishers lose editors, they lose deep relationships too.

And all the tech bros get sued. 🎶

Three months ago, my dear friend Hani was murdered while trying to feed his family.

His sister Faten has cancer, and sleeps in a freezing tent with her hands, feet, and eyes swelling more and more every day.

I love this family with all my heart. I can’t keep watching them die.
