Did you know some state prisons punish consensual sex between incarcerated people at the highest severity level alongside offenses like homicide and inciting a riot?

It's time for the U.S. to break up with the carceral system.
Bad Behavior: How prison disciplinary policies manufacture misconduct
A 50-state analysis of state prison discipline policies shows these unfair and unaccountable systems are counterproductive, traumatizing, and lengthen prison stays.

Pay attention to the Prairieland case.

By saddling the defendants with indiscriminate charges, holding them without bail, and isolating them from lawyers and the public, prosecutors are attempting to terrorize them into signing guilty pleas in order to set a precedent criminalizing dissent itself.

The crackdown on anti-ICE activists in Texas reflects a pattern of intensifying repression all around the country.

Now a judge wants to know why ICE never returned his wallet and keys.

AI use necessarily reduces accuracy, transparency and authenticity.

But sci comm *needs* to be accurate, transparent, and authentic. Otherwise you’re just goofing around, which will destroy your audience‘s trust in you and in other sci comm.

This is not a purely political threat anymore this is existential and we are blundering into territory that is extremely dangerous

As I said yesterday, I am still asking the community to remain cautious & vigilant. We still need help.
