Another reason I couldn't have written ME2 is that every time Shepard met someone From Before, I would have them say "Are you serious?" so that Shepard could reply "No, I'm Cerberus.", and then I would have been dumped on the side of the Yellowhead with no snowboots.
Today for the first time Dad said "I wish I'd done that" instead of "I always wanted to do that", and, pocket friends, it sucks.

I love it when I return to a fic to reread it and there's art that wasn't there before. Fandom makes me happy.

YA + Romancelandia is a *force*.
Just realized that we have shipped almost 300,000 whistles across the country because of a show where Jane Grey's husband turns into a horse.

Without the Tudor Horse Man show I would not be BFFs with @moryan.bsky.social & she wouldn't have sent me to @lefttheprairie.bsky.social & yet here we are.

Alt: Jane Grey flying through the air over flames and landing on the back of a horse. Who is also her husband.

One thing that’s really underreported on is the amount of mutual aid support the Twin Cities are receiving from around the country.

A third/fourth of folks I know doing weekly food support for vulnerable families are getting it at least partially financed by someone out of state who wants to help.

Two before OWEN, one canceled IP, one unwritten Book 3.
Hey authors -- I'm curious. For various reasons, we usually only see the highlight reals on social media, but how many novels have you trunked over your career? Especially post first published book?

There is no evidence of drawing down or deescalation on the part of the federal occupying army. The oppressive pressure of the nearness of evil makes casualness of any kind impossible. 6/7

I might be able to leave my gloves in the car when I walk into the grocery store, but I sure as hell have a whistle on me. Every notification buzz might be another murder or kidnapping or outrageous lie from the administration. The exhausting hypervigilance remains necessary. 7/7

My heart yearns for metaphor.
I talk about politics and the economy and sociology because I write about politics and the economy and sociology. I am a fantasy novelist. Come on.

I just booked my first school visit since the pandemic. It's a bit different in Canada, but there are *several* school boards whose screenings I no longer pass.
One.

I have one school visit scheduled for the 2025-26 school year.

Before the book banning movement and the politics of hate metastasized, I visited 40, 50, and 60 schools each year.

This regime of monstrous evildoers is actively trying to erase LGBTQ+ stories, identities, and humans.

You mean like the UBI for artists that Ireland tried (to great success)?
Congratulations again to the team behind Heated Rivalry. Your success is a powerful reminder of why it matters to invest in Canadian content and stories.

We rode past the site of his murder and then on to the block where ICE killed Renee Good. It took mere minutes riding very slowly.

My friend and I then swung off to head home, and our route took us through George Floyd Square.

It’s all so close. I knew this, but I really felt it today.

Thousands upon thousands of cyclists gathered today to honor Alex Pretti and to demand ICE leave our state. In decades of cycling, I’ve never been in a bigger group of riders. I couldn’t see the head or the tail of the group.

This armour is so silly and I always look *amazing* in it.

It doesn't bother me, exactly. Perhaps because it's predictable? Perhaps because I've always felt shut out of CanLit? But I've dreamed of Amanda Tapping's version of The Story of Owen on screen since 2014. I've just never really believed it could happen.
The thing that bothers me so much about Carney's joke about greenlighting the Heated Rivalry show is that it furthers the narrative that it's a needle in a haystack. Anyone who reads Canadian books and watches Canadian film knows that we could have dozens more HRs with enough funding.

One of my favourite "alternates" in Veilguard is that if you take Bellara to do the crystal thingies BEFORE she tells you about Cyrian, her reaction to the "Vora'shivan" note is "Wait, what?"

I have an extensive list of usual suspects (Hurt, Hallelujah (not that one, the other one), etc), but my real answer is Creep, from Carrie Manolakos.

OH, AND: Rude, from Kina Grannis.

@sylviafeketekuty.bsky.social 's experimental audio drama Episode "Kinbasket" is now live! Strange and spooky, this is a wonderful jumping in point to the story as it's entirely self-contained.

We'll resume Season 2 of "The Concierge" with Episode 2 coming next month!

I love working with @mikechenwriter.bsky.social on the star war.
A tiny distraction on a bonkers day: a new excerpt of Star Wars Outlaws: Low Red Moon that sees ND-5 and Jaylen track a target in the GFFA equivalent of Burbank Airport (seriously), only to discover ties to one of the underworld's biggest players

I was 34 for Origins, DA2, and DAI, and then 40 for Veilguard.
[Redacted] asked how old I was when I started playing Dragon Age, so I did the maths:

• Dragon Age Origins: 23
• Dragon Age 2: 25
• Dragon Age Inquisition: 28
• Dragon Age The Veilguard: 38

How old were you?
