When charitable trusts are doing more for public health than the government that is responsible for public health 🫠

Would also be great if articles like these could mention the Greens are the only party in Aotearoa to have a policy of free dental care for everyone.

Thank God feminism was unnecessary
ohhhhhh okay so what we've learned from the epstein mail drop is that the entirety of the fascistic culture war since the 2010s onward was basically wholesale consolidated through the anglosphere bourgeois old boys club network of pedophile rapists
So apparently I was right to shittalk m00t this week because it's been revealed that his boneheaded decision to establish /pol/ and subsequently ruin the website was allegedly born out of a one-on-one meeting with Jeffery Epstein.

This week I got longlisted for the National Book Award for Poetry. And it was quite a lot. I have enjoyed hearing from everyone who is excited for me though.

i feel like one thing that we should be making abundantly clear from now on is that the majority of anti-trans consent manufacturers are goddamn pedophiles.

are you going to believe what a bunch of pedophiles say about us? what does that say about you?

This should be headline news across every outlet in the country. This deal happening in secret - let alone directly involving us in a fascist war machine - should be criminal, fuck.
Breaking: the Government is negotiating with the US to provide access to our critical minerals, while a memo before the Waitangi Tribunal says a backdoor deal violates obligations to Māori

NZ Post should not be run "as a business". It's a fundamental public service and every issue you have had with it, or with courier delivery, in the past 30 years is down to governments sacrificing that public service for the sake of short term cashflow

Why is Phil Goff - who is retired - the one giving quotes criticising Peters' WHO comments and not (for example) the current Labour foreign affairs spokesperson?

Just shooting my shot. Any of y'all local NZ followers on here working in nonfiction TV production? The team needs a production consultant for our TVNZ application for round 2 in April. Any referrals would be greatly appreciated. We need some advisory on the contracting side of production.

I just want to make it clear that it was *Border Patrol* agents who murdered Alex Pretti, and those fuckers murder people regularly here along the border.

Renee Good´s murderer is also a former Border Patrol agent (currently ICE).

Since this is trending again, I’m not a particularly well-read student of history and political theory, but this is an aspect that always stood out to me in the little reading I’ve done on historical authoritarian revolutions.
Something I’ve been trying to tell people in my life is there is no safe or right way to exist safely under {fascism|authoritarianism|whatever}. There is no logical course of action you can follow that will prevent you from being targeted, intentionally or by chance, which history shows repeatedly.
honestly even the folks saying “FAFO” immediately fall apart too, since some reporting seems to point to her just driving up after dropping her kid off at school nearby

Wilhoit's Law isn't just astute, it offers the bedrock of a far clearer understanding of *all* politics if one just drops the bullshit left/right spatial metaphor of a "spectrum" and replaces it with that in/out distinction: a centre of power & privilege; its fash cops; the Abject excluded from it.

Last term I tried an experiment: I walked into my Tech and Design Ethics class, admitted that I had *no idea* what to do about ChatGPT - so I would let them figure it out.

As in: their first project was to decide and write the ChatGPT policy for the class.
