You should test this hypothesis by starting a new party for moderates (or at least running some moderates as independents) instead of trying to remake the Democrats.
If these two statements are true, moderates who aren’t shackled by the bad national image of Democrats should easily win, right?

My argument is super simple, it’s that according to Elliott Morris’s data:
1. Moderates do better on average
2. National party images are increasingly important
Morris is a smart guy and Democrats should follow his advice and moderate their national image.

The movie where a black law enforcement officer, and a white racist put aside their differences in their dying moments to hang a deceitful criminal woman might be a little bit reactionary?
Say it ain’t so.

i think you can make the argument, although i’m not certain i would, that both hateful eight and once upon a time in hollywood are reactionary in message and not just made by a reactionary. however, inglorious basterds, jackie brown, and django all make solidly leftist points that are correct

It is becoming increasingly clear to me that some people’s entire politics is centered on wanting to see establishment Democrats lose primaries and they don’t really care what happens beyond that.
Incredible what a great Rorschach test the Platner tattoo is. Almost no one I have respect for is defending it and almost everyone I think is a dishonest hack is coming up with excuses. Like, cutting across ideology even!
Surest sign that there's worse to come is Ryan Grim signing up to defend him for free

Ok to be fair, I actually 100% believe that if you ask the average Croatian tattoo artist for a sick tat of a skull, they would just give you some Nazi shit without even telling you.
he got it in Croatia for God's sakes.

All any politician running in 2028 needs to do to secure my unending fealty is to promise to convent this ballroom into just a collection of Trump’s stupidest quotes and least flattering pictures and make it a free museum.

Can leftists be incredibly annoying? Sure.
Even so, if you are lost in the desert, it seems a bit silly to blame the vultures circling over head for your impending death.
Libs became complacent, and got dunked on by the right. The left is taking advantage of that, but they didn’t cause it.

This is just straightforwardly true, and why I am constantly disappointed by TV.
The need to constantly find things to do with every member of a cast even after their character has served their purpose in the story, leads to most shows either going in circles or off a cliff after a while.

the characters in narrative don't exist outside the story you're telling and the longer you drag out a story into serialized storytelling the harder it is to maintain the illusion that they do, which is why serialized storytelling shouldn't go on forever
Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat

I think there are some people who really struggle to appreciate art that is inherently upsetting, but are also self-conscious about this, so they still try to experience that art.
Then when they don’t enjoy it, they feel frustrated and leave comments like this to validate their own tastes.

I need to understand the psychology of people who read an utterly devastating personal memoir and then log on to offer the stunning, helpful contribution of "2 stars—I didn't have fun."

I say this with love, some of you are going to lose your life savings to a man who says you have parking tickets that can only be paid in Target gift cards

I don’t know how much of this is inhumanity as it is incompetence/laziness.
“This is why X commonplace thing is actually bad for the environment” Is a pretty typical setup for an undergrad essay, and I think some journalists just default to those kinds of templates when they need a quick article.

this kind of thing is why I think the environmental/consumer-critical side of things are capable of just as much anti/inhumanity as the tech/consumerist side. there’s no legitimate reason to report on this whatsoever, this information can only do harm
The people who are most vulnerable to the hard-to-breathe air that comes with climate change may inadvertently be adding to the problem, new research finds. https://cnn.it/4pWQMoh

“Sure the past dozen politicians who said they had a way to lower taxes and increasing spending without triggering any inflation were lying, but this guy seems cool and trustworthy, so I think he’s figured it out.”
voters hate inflation but will essentially select candidates who will raise inflation
make it make sense
make it make sense
it keeps happening.
"The ruling party kept chanting about measures against rising prices, but they ended up choosing someone who will cause prices to rise even further."

As someone who listens to too many political podcasts, all this graph shows is that right wingers are cooking their brains.
Listening to political podcasts all the time is incredibly unhealthy and deranging.

There is something in the human mind that loves being told the people we find irritating are actually evil and dangerous, which is why there is a massive industry of assholes who seek out people acting cringe and make YouTube videos accusing them of destroying western civilization.
I feel like a lot of our political moment stems down to tens of millions of Americans literally incapable of imagining something worse than someone being annoying.

That was a TRAINED sniper. Astrology says this was planned. He was sacrificed. He was betrayed by close allies. This was fated.
This all points to the president IMO. This was a distraction and he was the scapegoat.

Liberalism will never have a Charlie Kirk, because a Liberal Charlie Kirk would have the balls to keep calling him a bastard even after he was shot, and wealthy conservatives are happy to give money to someone like that, but wealthy Liberals read Ezra Klein.
you want a liberalism with moxie? that starts with being honest about what maga is. don't like it? try getting some fucking moxie!

Klein cooked with this line. I totally agree! We should talk about Republicans in exactly the same way that Charlie Kirk talked about Democrats! We need his moxie!

And the thing is, he’s already won. TpUSA is massive and influential and will continue to do evil shit for years to come regardless of if he survives.
Most likely, this will just be a massive gift to the American right.

The shooting of Charlie Kirk will have almost exclusively extremely negative consequences for American society in general, the stability of society in specific, and the safety of everyone living in it.

They will lock me in a cage and give me little treats and call me a good boy!

the pic is just some people being silly and having fun, but the idea of the inversion of The Natural Order™️ is a metaphysical threat to some

Look, if you don't like Newsom, that's valid, but I'm telling y'all if you want to keep him out, drawing red lines while Trump is militarily occupying cities is not going to convince the voters you need to convince. Act like you're on the same team and elevate a better alternative.
Having this convo three years ahead of time is so odd. No we gotta get ahead of this shit, Gavin Newsom (a governor with historically pretty middling approval ratings in his own state) WILL be the candidate. And these fucks are gonna vote for JD Vance instead! It’s written in the leaves

This is the tone that these games often start with, but by the time you actually fight important people in soulsborne games, they are usually deranged lunatics, or empty husks, and the society that wronged you has functionally collapsed.
like basically when you get down to it the underlying impulse of your archetypal Soulslike is kind of almost incel-esque ressentiment "you're the little guy, sneered at by society and overshadowed by all these mighty people of excellence and achivement! but you'll show them! You'll show them ALL!"
