Hey y'all, call me Ace or EconEnby. I'm a neurodevelopmentally disabled anarchafeminist researching eugenics, scientific racism, and the intersection of anarchism and disability activism. I'm AuDHD and have OCD and fatigue of some kind. I might also post about books and random special interests.

I have no interest in policing other people's personal health choices in any way. If you're taking a GLP-1 and happy with it, then I'm happy.

But we're never going to be a country without fat people — or the need to treat each other with grace and humanity regardless of size.

Conservative and reactionary centrist media is trying to set up a narrative in which GLP-1s are some kind of existential threat to body positivity and fat activism.

It's bullshit. If you want to lose weight, go for it. But not everyone can or wants to — and they deserve equal treatment regardless.

i think in discourses around sexuality people confuse two true things: "how we experience desire and embodiment is not a conscious choice" and "how we negotiate, or deal with, or act on, or name our desire and embodiment using historically-determined terms is inevitably a conscious decision"

I leave for revision in 3 days and any support would be immensely helpful to get me through the 3 week recovery period afterwards 🩶🩶🩶
Good News: On my last follow up, my FFS surgeon was confident things were okay.

Bad News: The whole process was way more expensive than I anticipated and all the money I had set aside to help me get through my revision next month is now gone.

People are such fuckin' weirdos in the quotes about this. She's not unnamable, she's an ex-ac medievalist named Mary Rambaran-Olm and she spends seemingly 85% of her free time talking about "'zios' eating babies," spreading conspiracies, and pleasantly interacting w people who say we run the banks.
the answer to this is that there’s a yarn supplier/medievalist that a lot of people start engaging with because she’s Black and does (important!) work around anti-racism but also she went off the deep end of antisemitism several years ago and I guess some people followed her down the rabbit hole
That's horrible, and I totally get it - it feels like you've been tricked, and they've just done a horrible, horrible 'ta-da!' reveal.

Though the mind boggles how one would move from knitting to Nazi views. But then, as a dyspraxic crocheter, the ability to use 2 needles seems like dark magic....

there is no way we can grapple with the ethics of our relations with people diagnosed with personality disorders until we address the rampant child abuse and violence found at the core of our society—from Epstein to Gaza, our world sustains itself on subjugating and depersonalizing children.

I spent months hearing from African survivors of Myanmar scam camps, where trafficking victims are forced to run scams targeting westerners. Chinese criminals & at least one pro-junta militia cooperate to dish out horrific abuse against migrants to ensure compliance.
Africans are being confined and beaten in scam camps in Myanmar
Migrants toil for long hours on social-media platforms, targeting people with crypto and romance scams

Patients were forced to go private at great personal cost because NHS assessments for ADHD have waitlists up to 8 years long. And now, despite having those diagnoses, GPs are just refusing to give people meds they need for a diagnosis they have because... fuck you, that's why.

Cool!

I have not seen a single police/state snuff video since Eric Garner's murder in 2014, please dont do this to yourself. Its not only not necessary, but akin to lynching postcards: the emotive consumption of Black death and state "justice" is a core part of anti-blackness
i honestly believe that this idea that you have to subject yourself to every shocking horrifying image as part of "the fight" mostly manifests in people who are doing absolutely nothing to "fight" other than post on social media

because i never see it amongst people who are getting things done
not sure where this idea that you must continually subject yourself to horrible spectacle to stay committed to the fight came from. the more likely outcomes are total mental breakdown, or becoming the kind of person who rolls their eyes and posts a "shocked" meme when something terrible happens.

tbh, when a state attempts to police and ban transition care, any Response that comes down to "well we don't need that and can still be trans", while formally true, is a very conservative one that implicitly gives consent to the state to take away your bodily autonomy & mould you into cisness - bad!

something possessed by trans people themselves, or simply unchangeable altogether. the former is why DIY and community science has sprung up to help with the gap, the latter is a reheat of janice raymond's classic TERF argument that naturalizes cisness as the "natural body" and echoes antivaxx

the criticism of how medical transition care is monopolized by medical institutions against trans people's needs and desires to change their bodies is one most trans people already agree with, but the difference here is whether one believes that this ability to change the body should be

Agreeing with a lot of the criticisms others have given but I think something also to highlight is how some (not all) disability scholars have seen the harm of surveillance and coercion in medical systems and concluded medical treatment therefore is automatically suspect.
saw this, immediately got pissed off, stopped myself and considered that maybe i was being unfair or misinterpreting, then looked up who posted this and saw that they're either a cis woman or non-transitioning nonbinary w/ she/her pronouns so nah fuck this transphobic bullshit holy fuck

This is also just like a very weird interpretation of the relationship between disabled people and the “Medical Industrial Complex”. Plenty of us want to access the medical accommodations we need WITHOUT the awful surveillance and control, but we still want the access to care! Hellooo read Eli Clare
