I think this is absolutely essential, yeah. I pay for a few podcasts and a few indie news sources but it is just impossible to support everyone, and those silos of who has access to what knowledge also stop people from having breakout hits and converting those breakouts to subscriptions.
whoever figures out a way to bundle independent journalism subscriptions will be a hero
i know that this is an unpopular take, but everyone starting their own newsletter as a revenue stream is not a sustainable model for writing and reporting or for people who love and want to pay for media.

Washington Post laid off many of their staff photographers, too. Which seems missing from a lot of coverage I’ve read.

Once, when I worked at an annex shop, a palmerston resident came in; he gleefully started telling us about how he had intentionally filed paperwork with the city to try and shut down the Fringe festival's bar at the very last moment so they would have no chance to respond before the festival.

You gotta remember that for every Good or Pretti who is white and shot in public there is like. A hundred or a thousand people being beaten or killed in private or even in public and people overlook it, and these people matter exactly as much. We should all be 100 times angrier
DHS doesn’t even bother trying to lie well. The man whose skull was shattered told the hospital he’d been struck by ICE officers, an ICE officer told hospital staff the guy “got his sh*t rocked,” then when it became clear how badly he was injured, they claimed he deliberately ran into a wall.
