This movie has the most deranged politics
February 5, 2026 at 4:53 AM
Is it because once the pandemic started we all got vaccinated so now we everyone's autistic and we can't tell each other apart
February 5, 2026 at 4:46 AM
Why was 2015-20 the peak of utterly deranged representation of autism
February 5, 2026 at 4:40 AM
I'm watching the accountant for some reason and an FBI analyst is asking how to identify autism in mug shots

use undo? even I don't know what autocorrect got the better of here
February 4, 2026 at 9:06 PM
The idea that everyone needs to subscribe to a dozen different news sites is in an aspect of the whale chasing that has taken over every part of society - how many 5-10 dollar a month subscriptions can use undo? How many would you want to?
February 4, 2026 at 8:14 PM
I think this is absolutely essential, yeah. I pay for a few podcasts and a few indie news sources but it is just impossible to support everyone, and those silos of who has access to what knowledge also stop people from having breakout hits and converting those breakouts to subscriptions.
whoever figures out a way to bundle independent journalism subscriptions will be a hero
i know that this is an unpopular take, but everyone starting their own newsletter as a revenue stream is not a sustainable model for writing and reporting or for people who love and want to pay for media.

Alex Garland civil war proven inaccurate: don't have to worry about the ethics of journalists witnessing atrocity and their place in it if there's no journalists
Seems as though they have laid off their entire photography staff. Photojournalists don’t just take photos, we report, we pitch, we take photos while our lives and safety are under threat. We explore our neighborhoods, restaurants and sports with a creative eye. Photojournalists do it all.
Washington Post laid off many of their staff photographers, too. Which seems missing from a lot of coverage I’ve read.

worth noting that the second rich people stopped being afraid of mobs tearing them limb from limb, they stopped building libraries and opera houses and stuff and started ripping the copper wiring out of the walls of society instead

Notable that as a society we have literally already tried “what if we got those twelve billionaires to do a lot of drugs at a rave (burning man) to develop human empathy and a holistic vision of the world” and that hella backfired.
We gotta come up with a better system than “everything rests on whether these twelve billionnaires are nice”

Ok I just watched tenet and it's the first Nolan movie I've loved. I think my new theory is it's the first time he has successfully aped Tarkovsky after a ton of misses

horsepower was named in the hope that competition from the steam engine would incentivize exponential growth of the average draft horse, so their brand would remain relevant. watt likely expected that by 2025 cities would be full of horses the size of elephants and the stench would be unbearable

The IDF targeted water infrastructure in Gaza on day 1 of the genocide. Biden's USAID humanitarian chief, Sonali Korde, personally intervened in the Response in order to prevent water/sanitation projects from going forward because water infrastructure "helped Hamas."

Nobody thinks that the developer trying to evict renters to put in place apartments that are only luxury by price is the good guy. But these people are the root of fascism, people who call themselves liberal and take every chance to make life unlivable for everyone else. Nuke Palmerston

People like this claim to want to live in a city, but they don't. We say if your barista can't live in the city, what you actually live in is a theme park; these people - the rich in general, Palmerston residents in particular - say that's fucking right and stay out of my theme park.
