The bigger argument here is that we shouldn’t even be using such metrics to assess academic performance. It’s just lazy.
Hilariously bad idea. In my subfield author lists are almost always alphabetical!
🧪For those of us who do complex collaborations with multiple corresponding authors this is terrible . I suspect it will also hit female authors disproportionately as they tend to have more collaborations across fields…https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-025-03281-4

Complete nonsense.

My advice to post-graduate researchers is to always preprint their work, as it will improve their visibility while the manuscript is going through a (frequently very long) peer review process.
We have senior people in our department telling PhD students not to post preprints as journals will refuse to publish due to prior publication. Is there anywhere in health this is actually true? Genuine question, but I doubt it?

QUESTION: anyone knows of a published example of a gene/operon which is toxic in Pseudomonas aeruginosa if in high copy plasmids, but ok in low copy? Got plenty of examples of my own for E. coli (esp of membrane protein genes), but struggling to find for Pae… Cheers!
