Their plan is to weaponize fake victimhood in order to drive out trans people from the teaching profession : « religious freedom » arguments always boil down to the freedom to discriminate. The paper she wrote was a deliberate attempt to troll, and it worked like a charm.

The White House claims the vote to rename the Kennedy Center was “unanimous.” That is false. I was muted on the call and denied the opportunity to speak or register my opposition. That is not consensus. That is censorship.

Every time I see this genre of article, I'm reminded of the time I applied for a job that got 500+ apps for 3 US history positions. There was a .6% chance of being hired. At that point, most applicants are qualified, everyone's odds are terrible, and getting hired involves some measure of luck
Wait…omg…this entire anecdote I mean argument is premised on the experience of someone who DIDN’T EVEN ATTEMPT THE MARKET????

I literally applied to hundreds of jobs over seven or eight years before getting a TT job offer.

Tomorrow, the House of Representatives will vote on a bill that bans gender-affirming medical care for any transgender person under 18, and threatens any medical professional providing this care to youth with 10 years in prison.

Tell Congress to protect trans youth and vote NO.
Protect Trans Care Now
As wave after wave of extreme measures to criminalize and strip trans people of rights and safety continue, tell Congress to act.

as bleak as this sounds I’m glad that universal basic income is now being openly proposed even by capitalist ghouls
"I find the resulting outlook for employment terrifying. I am enormously concerned about what will happen to the people whose jobs AI renders unnecessary, or who can't find jobs because of it," Marks wrote in his latest blog post on Tuesday.
Howard Marks says AI is going to have a 'terrifying' impact on employment — and it goes well past lost paychecks
Howard Marks, cofounder of Oaktree Capital Management, said AI could strip people of the structure, purpose, and self-worth they gain from work.
