THE GOOD THINGS CAN HAPPEN CAUCUS IS BACK, MOTHERFUCKERS
I think it’s now safe to call this race.

Progressive urban planner Katie Wilson defeats centrist incumbent Bruce Harrell and will become Seattle’s next mayor.
Seattle's mayor race update:

Katie Wilson's lead grows to 1,346 votes over and incumbent corporate-Democrat Bruce Harrell.

Kate Wilson won 61.23% of the 6,121 ballots counted today.

Overall total:

Katie Wilson 50.08% 137,217
Bruce Harrell 49.59% 135,871
Write-in 0.33% 908

My political hot take is that US voters should be able to recall elected representatives via petition - at any time.
No more hiding behind election terms.

Leader Jeffries is stepping up his game.
Jeffries: "It's unbelievable that for 7 plus weeks Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva has been denied the ability to serve more than 800,000 people in Arizona because Republicans are running a pedophile protection program."

I’ve seen multiple journalists ask for an explanation right here in the platform. Is that not “media requests”? 🤔

It seems very straightforward. Banning a journalist with no explanation who is on the site doing her job raises... a lot of questions, and none of them are flattering to Bluesky or to @aaron.bsky.team

whether one is a president or a midlevel techbro
It’s wildly disingenuous for @aaron.bsky.team to reply to queries about Sarah Kendzior’s suspension about how they don’t comment publicly on individual users when he knows that we all know that they haven’t even told her privately what the basis for the suspension is

Is Schumer still the minority leader? Is Durbin still the whip? Is Cortes-Masto still a vice chair? Good Democrats -- rank and file, those committed to restoring party --must tell Act Blue and every candidate with hands out for the coming midterms -- that there's no cash coming without new leaders.

None of the hopefuls running for the Dem nom to take on Lawler in #NY17 have found their spines

The hype was "@caitfornewyork.bsky.social is a fighter," but she seems to be as tight with #TeamFold as Ramapo's favorite Golden Girl, Beth Davidson.

Rigged selections. @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social
UPDATE — Here are the at least 10 congressional Democrats, 5 Democratic-aligned organizations, and 6 Democratic Senate candidates calling for Chuck Schumer to resign as leader:

Dick Durbin is a hapless senile alterkocher. His incapacities are what Schumer values about him. No bite, no bark, no threat.
I hadn't realized that Durbin has been the Democratic whip since 2005 (!!). That's just too long to be in that position (or any leadership position), his caucus should vote him out (the resulting Aaron Sorkin movie will have him receiving the news on a blue slip)

“If Jeanne Shaheen or Angus King, or ideally just Chuck Schumer, went to the mics and said: We have tried everything we can to make Republicans give you back your health care. They refuse to do so. The only way you’re going to get your health care back is to elect Democrats.”
Now that Dems have capitulated, at the very least they should now make every future extension of funding contingent on Trump following the law. Any lawbreaking must be met with: No more votes from us, period.

My exchange with @brianbeutler.bsky.social on that point:

This seems like the most straightforward and also basically accurate message.
instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

The 2026 Midterms are theirs to lose. And Senate Democratic Leadership is working as hard as they can to do just that.

The failure of the caucus as a whole to remove Schumer makes each and every one of them wholly complicit in his reign of serial failures, unforced errors, and craven capitulation.
Van Hollen wants the job, but he's not going to stick his neck out for these clowns. Nor should he.
“There’s no real appetite to oust Schumer, though. Nor is there any interest from another Democrat to challenge him, according to interviews with more than a dozen Democratic senators.” @punchbowlnews.bsky.social

Oh Sen Dems are not in disarray - they are in array - in their collective cowardice.

Repeatedly platforming a pro-genocide single-issue religious identity candidate, strongly backed by this very failed incumbent leadership is divisive, counterproductive, and destructive.

It’s insane to treat the filibuster as the most sacrosanct.

Article 1 power of the purse, oversight, and war? Nah.

Emoluments clauses? Bribery prohibition? Meh.

Criminal law? 14A? Doesn’t count.

But maybe the Senate changes a rule it has multiple times before? Gasp! Not that. Anything but that.
