This weekend, President Trump federalized 2,000 National Guard personnel to respond to protests against ICE in L.A.

Here’s a thread of Lawfare’s recent analysis of domestic deployments of the military:
"What is obvious, however, is that the Democrats who both voted to initiate the shutdown and then caved in the face of no material change of circumstance were either wrong 41 days ago or are wrong now."

@benjaminwittes.lawfaremedia.org assesses what the government shutdown has accomplished.

The U.S. military is being used inside the United States. There's a lot we don't know about how, why, and under what authorities.

Today, Lawfare is launching a new project–which includes a tracker and a map–to follow where and how the military is being domestically deployed.

Last week, the Supreme Court heard oral argument in the challenge to President Trump's use of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to impose tariffs. Joshua Villanueva, Kristijan Barnjak, and Rebecca Qiu provide an overview of the arguments and the justices’ line of questioning.
Oral Argument Summary: Learning Resources, Inc. v. Trump (Tariffs)
At stake is whether IEEPA authorizes tariff measures, and if so, whether that delegation violates constitutional principles of nondelegation.
