Basically the Rob Ford model of mayoring, but by somebody who believes in Government.
It's funny how Zohran's tactic appears to be showing up to things that are well-known problems and going "wait why haven't we fixed this yet"

Remember that scene in The West Wing about how the Mercator map projection is damaging to Africa/the global south because it deemphasizes how big they are while emphasizing places like Greenland?

I would bet everything I own that it's now hurting Greenland too. Trump wants it because it's big.

Their messaging is so fucking incoherent. Maduro was an illegitimate leader who lost in 2024, which is why we're replacing him with his VP instead of the person who won in 2024. We did this to stop fentanyl, which is why he's indicted for cocaine.

We're also occupying Venezuela via Zoom call.

I spoke with María Corina Machado today. I affirmed Canada’s support for a peaceful, Venezuelan-led transition of power — one that respects the democratic will of the Venezuelan people.

Been a very long time since I've taken Brampton Transit.

I have to say that the lighting on this Zum bus is maybe the best bus lighting I've ever experienced.

It's interesting because there are obviously many issues in international law with Maduro's regime and his stolen election(s).

Which is why the legality argument many seem to be raising about this attack is almost laughable, despite being true. It's almost entirely irrelevant.
"international law must be followed" is european for "thoughts and prayers"

A good amount of this stuff on this graphic is just wrong. You don't need to make up bad history to critique US imperialism.

Remember, regardless of what social networks say, two things can be true at the same time and some stories don’t have a “good guys vs bad guys” narrative. In some stories both sides can be bad and it’s the civil population who gets the short end of the stick.

Spain's PM Pedro Sanchez is 1st European leader to make a stronger statement following Trump's press conference where he said the US will run Venezuela and take its oil.

Sanchez has been ostracised by other 🇪🇺 leaders for his past criticism of Trump. Will they listen to him now?

Oh man, social media is going to be a terrible, terrible place over the next few days isn't it? #Venezuela

You know that runner in Toronto that races streetcars? The City put in dedicated lanes on Bathurst, and he re-raced it

“This used to be the slowest route. Now it’s the closest race I’ve done. I never thought I’d say this. But I’m really surprised. There’s hope: for the streetcars and for the city.”

Mac Bauer’s racing activism has made ‘signal priority’ and traffic congestion a big talking point for the Canadian city

#JacksLibraryTour is my Origin Story of how I got into the Urbanist/City Building Sphere. Helps me better connect with students about the city that surrounds them. Lucky to join students from the Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the @utoronto.ca bsky.app/profile/dieg...
Got a chance to go on a library tour with my Built Environment & Health Class and guest lecturer @lanrickbennett.bsky.social this morning.

I already loved Toronto's library system, but there are consistently more things to learn and discover. Like the many unique ways that branches specialize.

I'm trying to use this short time between semesters to be productive and though I've been largely successful, I'm perhaps learning that there is no level of productivity that will satisfy me.

For the Star’s opinion section I contributed to the year end “loss” package: the loss of the TTC as “The Better Way”. Not yet the worst way but sliding towards it. Many culprits, ultimately but it’s our own fault for not demanding, & voting, better.

Finally got to use the 29 Dufferin dedicated bus lane on my way to Yorkdale. Subway would still have been faster from Parkdale, but not by much.

And zooming past the cars stuck in traffic in the next lane over is a feeling I wish I could bottle!

One thing I forgot I missed about living in a city in a cold climate is the smells. Fresh, good smells travel while bad smells are frozen away.

So you won't smell hot garbage, but passing a Chinese restaurant or Shisha lounge on a sub-zero day is practically aroma therapy.

So happy the short piece I wrote for Riflesso, the University of Toronto's journal for Italian Studies has been published.

"Reflecting on Mambo Italiano, 22 Years Later" is a personal piece about this queer Italian-Canadian film after seeing it more recently: jps.library.utoronto.ca/index.php/ri...

John Egerton Ryerson, the grandson of Egerton Ryerson and a Captain in the Canadian army, lived right across the street from me when he died in WWI. Fascinating, I did not know this.
The First World War took the lives of about 2,900 Toronto residents, or about two per cent of the city’s male population. This map owes a lot to the Canadian Great War Project, which was generous about sharing its research. /2 t.co/Z2HMqKg2dk

For a developing nation of 50 million, this is unprecedented.

We also saw this sculpture, apparently called "Vessel" in Taddle Creek Park, which was so beautiful.

Also a working water feature in the City of Toronto?! In October?!?! I was shook.
