Someone else said it, but the actual problem with Bluesky is not that politics is all people post about, but that most of the people who post on Bluesky are political.
The dual posting thunderdomes that happened yesterday remind that this app has too many people posting exclusively about politics and not enough people posting about which cartoon characters they want to kiss

Half of Greek mythology is literally just about people who think they're built different, only to be proven they very much are not.
it's truly incredible that after a decade of trump being involved in politics (setting aside decades of his history in business) so many people still line up to make deals with him that end up with his knife in their back. anyway, mariá machado, step up and claim your fell for it again award.

This is amazing because there's a minority of Dems who seem dedicated to adopting Starmerism as party ideology (clapping for Maduro's kidnapping was exactly what the UK gov did), ignoring the fact that its main achievement was to give Starmer the worst approval ratings of any PM since polling began.
Some Democrats hate that their party is largely positioning itself in opposition to the operation that resulted in Maduro's capture.

"Everything Trump touches must be bad according to the base," one House Dem told @axios.com

Said another: "It looks weak." www.axios.com/2026/01/04/m...

"The tentative plan is for the group to travel to travel to Venezuela in March and meet with the new government, including the new president."

There *is* no new government. Are they insane? Do they just take any piece of dementia-riddled garbage that comes out of Trump's mouth at face value?
And there ya have it…

Officials from top Wall Street firms will be traveling to Venezuela to investigate “investment prospects” of the country. “The trip will feature about 20 officials from the finance, energy and defense sectors.”
Finance Industry Eyes Investment Opportunities in Venezuela
Some on Wall Street are already considering possible investment opportunities in Venezuela following the capture of Nicolás Maduro, according to Charles Myers, chairman of consulting firm Signum Globa...

The most farcical development possible is for this whole thing to go exactly as planned and the US public still being mad at them because they've developped a negative Pavlovian response to military interventions.

Let's play the antisocials' game: even assuming left-wing politicians are just as corrupt and greedy as right-wing ones, wouldn't you prefer someone who at least has to pretend to be honest than one who will have his goons hang you upside down in public to grab whatever falls out of your pockets?

An essential development over the past decade-plus is that the ignorant went from feeling chastened when their ignorance was revealed to banding together and deciding that, actually, they were right. They might disagree at times, but they agreed that ignorance itself was an indicator of trust.

Indeed, the opposite is often true: cynicism is an easy attitude to adopt and even easier to maintain, as it soothes the ego and frees you from the burden of judging things as they are. Consequently, it tends to become the wisdom of fools and idiots.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing us to associate optimism and a positive outlook with low intelligence

For people who might be confused, the Trump admin's casus belli in Venezuela is essentially the equivalent of France claiming they have a casus belli with the US because they "stole" Louisiana from them.
this is all so ridiculously contrived, how cooked does your brain have to be to think there's any public support for it
