Build modern housing. Build modern infrastructure. Build modern democracy.

More power generation is ok, but efficiency is the game-changer.

Yes it can be done in Canada.
Ford is a grifter who loves a good construction project to pad the accounts of his friends. That's the purpose of his government. Starve hospitals, schools, etc so that he can have cost overruns that help his rich friends.
Let's just assume it's less about building a 401 tunnel & more about creating a
$$ funnel.

As it begins, with $9M for a study .. 🤔 ..
maybe someone should be following the $$.

PP is one of Harper's flying monkeys. Harper controls the CPC. So a vote for the Conservatives is a vote for Russian interests.

Single stair buildings is the way to go for all the reasons below.

It's a simple tweak that would bead to homes where people can have space, light and kids.
There is no evidence that the extra stair makes buildings safer, but there is lots of evidence that double loaded buildings result in a range of bad outcomes for the city.

More risk of overheating, less green space, dark internal bedrooms, long hallways, fewer family sized units on small lots.

Provinces will have to get used to not being able to blame the easy lightening rod of Justin Trudeau for everything.

Look at this list. They are on the hook for the enshitification of everything from healthcare to housing to education.

And interprovincial tariffs that cost Cdns $$$
Far too many Canadians think the federal government controls everything. All while ignoring the decades-long sabotage of 🇨🇦 by powerful provincial gov’ts that control healthcare, education, minimum wage, rent controls, infrastructure & so many other aspects of gov’t that impact daily life. #cdnpoli

Frank Zappa. A Republican, saw what was coming in the US when the Republican party actively courted the religious right.

The religious right want to diminish the power if the secular state. That pairs nicely with 'business first' interest in weakening institutions.

This is a warning to Canada. All the new generation is going to need an upgraded inter-provincial grid to take advantage of central Canada's and BC's green batteries...hydro dams.

Sounds like an ideal nation building project.
"Nearly 40% of the electricity produced by Scottish wind farms has been wasted so far this year, because the grid was not able to move it to other parts of the UK or store it."

Yes, EVs is a better option, but not a solution. Our cities are outgrowing cars altogether.

We need electric public transit including electric passenger rail. We need e-bikes on the streets to displace cars driven by 1 person in a living-room on 4 wheels.

Less traffic = less cars, not more.
Just want to put on record that I respectfully disagree with Tim’s piece.

Replacing fossil fuel cars with electric vehicles is important, but from a health, climate and wellbeing point of view we should be aiming for fewer cars imo
Extremely puzzled that @nestauk.bsky.social publishes pieces like this.

Is this really the main problem we need to solve to fall in love with cars again???

Photo chosen is telling us why perhaps we should NOT increase car traffic further. Terrible comms.
