a loss to San Francisco and to me personally. we played there for years and years until there was really no way for us to play there. "too big" I guess but I will never be bigger in my mind than what the Bottom of the Hill is in my heart.

Dang, this bums me out. One of the last of its kind in SF.

Listen, I think Gen AI sucks generally, especially when used in creative works, but we gotta stop attacking creators that we *think* might be using AI without any proof.

One of the most insidious thinks about AI is that it makes us doubt what's real. Let's not fall for it. #gamedev

This is probably the best, most level-headed description of the AI bubble I've read.
"AI is the asbestos in the walls of our technological society, stuffed there with wild abandon by a finance sector and tech monopolists run amok. We will be excavating it for a generation or more."

This piece on AI by Cory Doctorow is spectactular.

This entire grift relies on convincing people that they don't know how to do the things they have always known how to do, and ironically, if it works, we will, in a very short amount of time, forget how to do all the things we have always known how to do.

Will Arnett was on Conan and told a story about how Conan dealt with the death of his parents by accusing Jason Bateman of killing them. It’s so funny.

love to see a suspicious amount of people in positions of power who keep getting second and third chances at making studios despite spending years not shipping a title

and i wish that mystery money that pops out of seemingly nowhere went into better, capable hands

I think people really don't appreciate how remarkable it is that the games industry releases hundreds of video games every year when you consider that not one person on earth knows how to make a video game

I just started using my local library to get e-books and it COULD NOT BE EASIER.

Libraries are awesome, get yourself a library card.
Sometimes I think it’s going to be the librarians who will save us all.
