hey y'all! I'm Soleil Ho, a writer who goes deep into food, pop culture, identity politics and mass media. I've written about: an edible wasp festival in Japan; the hollowing-out of the COVID welfare state; and how Stop Asian Hate got warped into pro-carceral politics. I also write cookbooks!

spoiler alert: I went rogue and suggested a breakfast sandwich
Last week the “D.C. Sandwich Guy” was found not guilty of misdemeanor assault. We can’t foresee the full implications of this verdict yet; only time will tell the true meaning of this acquittal as precedent. But from where we’re sitting: sure seems like sandwich terrorism is now legal in the USA.

Things one should consider when selecting sandwiches for projectile purposes: Is it from a business I feel strongly about supporting? Will the sandwich make a significant impact? Will I be very sad to have lost the opportunity to eat said sandwich?

An ICE agent hit by a sandwich earlier this year testified that he could feel the sandwich’s “explosive” impact through his ballistic vest. “I could smell the onions and mustard.”
This made us hungry, so we've rounded up our favorite Bay Area sandwiches that are big, messy, smelly, and aerodynamic.

got to post-Zohran blog @thecut.com — multiple election outcomes on Tuesday showed that refusing to fold on trans people, migrants, Muslims, and marginalized communities while pushing kitchen table issues is a winning strategy. the pundit class’s “Decision to Win”-style arguments can be put to bed
