Labour should be shouting this loudly from every rooftop. Tories would never have passed this legislation, given their addiction to ground rent.

It's time for Mr. Costello to write a topical update to Tramp The Dirt Down.

No prizes for guessing about whom.

I would make a lousy soldier. I look up to those who would put their life on the line for the sake of this country and what it believes in.
I lost family in armed service. And they didn't die of bone spurs.

With all this talk about the Chagos islands, it would be good if the #BBC reminded people more often that the UK had no choice over ceding the islands back to Mauritius because the ICJ declared that the UK's continued occupation of the islands was illegal.

That's enough news for now.
This has been one of those weeks where decades think that they're going to happen and then suddenly decide not to.
It's exhausting.

These are *not* serious people.
EXC: Zack Polanski tells us Britain should consider closing US military bases, leave Nato and denuclearise, as he begins to flesh out the Greens’ foreign policy.

Also spells out to @pippacrerar.bsky.social and me his red lines in any coalition talks to come.

I am going to demand the Nobel Prize for Chemistry or I shall annex the nearby town of Stapleford.
A source confirms to me that this disturbing letter from Trump to the Norwegian PM is real.
Not the sort of letter committed to paper by a well man. "Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace"

I hope it's nothing trivial.
Farage is apparently 'under the weather' today and unable to talk about the US threats to the UK and Europe over Greenland.

Which is unfortunate.

This photo was taken in 1911 using glass plate technology by Herbert Ponting who was part of Scott's Antarctic expedition,

The composition and detail are exquisite with the band of white snow/ice creating a perfect frame around the two people and the ship in the distance

Iconic imo

This is appalling: Top DOJ officials are actively pushing for a criminal investigation into the widow of Renee Good, leading prosecutors to quit en masse, NYT is reporting.

Who in the White House ordered DOJ to do this? That's the next thing to establish.

I keep a dormant burner account because it's never wise to turn your back on something nasty. But I don't drink anything which would count as actual engagement.

Instead of Trump invading Venezuela just to steal one Nobel Peace Prize, why not invade Norway, raid the big vault and steal the lot of them?
Job's a goodun.
The Norwegian Nobel Prize committee has been forced to make a statement, declaring that the prize cannot be transferred.
It's hard even to comprehend how stupid this has become
