‘Death remains my intimate shadow partner. It has been with me since birth, always hovering close by. I understand one day we will finally waltz together into the ether. I hope when that time comes, I die with the satisfaction of a life well-lived, unapologetic, joyful, & full of love.’

So saddened by the news that we have lost Alice Wong. It was an honor to know her and learn from her. May the lessons she shared continue to guide us for years to come.

My favourite book this year, glad it’s getting recognition!
My novel DEATH OF THE AUTHOR is a Time Magazine “Must-Read Book of the 2025”, 🥰.

I’m pleased that they at least said the genre is “hard to pin down” (that’s an understatement because the novel contains multitudes).

I made a “how do you do, fellow kids?” joke to someone in their mid 20s who, it turns out, was too young to have heard of that meme.

So “how do you do, fellow kids?” is now an example of “how do you do, fellow kids?”

The truly maddening thing is that, unlike when I was a young man in science and the materials and engineering just weren’t there yet, the future is *right there.* The problem is *solved*. What’s holding us back is not just greed, but this bizarre nostalgia, an obsession with petro- masculinity.

One minor take-away from the NYC mayor's race for those concerned with AI/synthetic media and its effects on politics and elections might be that, in this particular instance, the guy who made a malicious deepfake lost and the guy who made authentic videos won.

1. In the wake on Mamdani’s win, we’ll see a lot more far right anti-urban sentiment. Here’s a thread on its roots and evolution.

The idea that the city is evil and corrupt, and the countryside innocent and pure, goes back a long way: to Theocritus in Alexandria, and to the Old Testament. 🧵

When you have an invisible disability, people accuse you of faking.

When you’re visibly disabled, too many people—and I’m talking here in my darling blue city of Seattle—treat you w/ contempt.

And it costs SO much more to be #disabled.

This is all part of how disabled people become unhoused:
As legislative attacks on unhoused people ramp up, disabled people are on the front lines. Sources told me they are terrified of being rounded up and forced into a detention camp, as Trump promises to make those part of his administration's legacy.
