TIL I’ve been able to work so little this summer due to an #MECFS flare-up that spiders are reclaiming my desk for nature.

(And most of the work I’ve done has been from the couch. Remote work is the only reason I can stay employed these days!)

I’ve had some bedbound days lately and have been folding a lot of these Kawasaki roses. Since the third one, I’ve had the pattern memorized. Now it puts me in a nice muscle memory flow state, ideal for certain types of rest. One of the big reasons I do #origami at all. #pwME

Has anyone read this book, and would you recommend it? I don’t have the spoons to read it now - it’s pretty dense philosophy. But I’ve been thinking about western culture’s discomfort with death and #disability topics a lot lately. #booksky

I'm reading this collection of essays on #disability and memoir by Johanna Hedva and typing out notes as I go.

There are lots of thick, juicy ideas in here about #chronicillness, #accessibility, #ableism, and what it means to be a human body under capitalism. ⬇️

I just started reading this book, which is technically a memoir but seems structured as a set of essays about various pleasures. Pub 1989.

Like ch. 3 is about why she and her house love each other. “On Pleasures in Principle” is the prologue. Etc.

📚 My latest Book Talk column is all about public libraries on Haida Gwaii and how libraries provide so, SO much more than books.

I think I’ve also broken some news here. The new Masset branch and Xaad Kil Immersion Lab will have its grand opening on Sep 13! 🥳 @vilibrary.bsky.social
