Trump’s America 2026. Masked armed men in body armor arresting journalists in the night.

We’re truly going back to the 1930s.

My almost 90 y/o mom was right when she moved back to Austria this year: “I grew up under fascism, I don’t need to die under it” 😳
Recall that Melissa Hortman and her husband were murdered not long ago by a fake cop who showed up at their door looking like this guy

DEA?!? Gotta be a “task force.”

Part of the problem with Trump’s deportation goons is that they believe the lies he and his senior officials have spouted about ICE protesters.

Here’s a particularly embarrassing episode featuring a suburban police chief near St. Paul. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/30/u...

My job is to stand my ground. Fix what’s broken. Make life better for people.

This is a hard moment for our state — which only makes it more important.

Don’t look down. Don’t look away from each other.

Let's speak plainly.

In a legitimate criminal cases, political appointees don't have to first hollow out U.S. Attorney offices of objecting career prosecutors with integrity; federal judges don't kill the cases at the cradle, and the government doesn't fight tooth and nail to revive them.

And not to put too fine a point on it or anything, but guess which side of the fight for civil rights did wear masks to conceal their identity?

Hint: They called them robes instead.

Political differences aside, we should all be deeply concerned with this Administration’s repeated attempts to stifle freedom of the press.

This is not what democracy looks like.

Six days ago federal officers murdered a man in the streets of Minneapolis and we still don't know their identities. Is there any modern precedent for this?

This happened to me yesterday. Two ICE officers abruptly blocked a freeway entrance, got out and illegally threatened me with arrest. All on video, thanks to a journalist in the backseat filming the entire thing. Press makes us safer.
Just thinking of how many ways a few commuters having journalists with them would help.
- The journalist can literally be there when ICE/CBP gets out of their SUVs and starts their action. There's no "OK, what happened before the person with the camera showed up?"

We are living in an authoritarian state y’all. Not a complete or perfect authoritarianism. Law and democracy still works, in part. But not in full. We are seeing things undreamt of ten years ago.
