In the 70's, saw Bob Denver in The Odd Couple at our local dinner theate. I wasn't really old enough to appreciate the play, but so excited to seem him. I asked him for his autograph, and he signed my program "Gilligan" :). Squeee from me.
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

Pope Leo XIV said in a Christmas Eve sermon that the story of Jesus being born in a stable because there was no room at an inn should remind Christians that refusing to help the poor and strangers today is tantamount to rejecting God himself.

Denying help to the poor is rejection of God, Pope Leo says on Christmas Eve
"On Earth, there is no room for God if there is no room for the human person. To refuse one is to refuse the other," said the pope said, lamenting lack of care for children, the poor and immigrants.

Guessing I'm not the only one who woke up to the "The Wait if Over! Boxing Day sale starts today! Up to 70% off" email from Briscoes.
But then I saw the "Business confidence at its highest level in 40 years" headline.
Funny way of dealing with confidence!
Nothing screams the economy is in dire times like Boxing Day Sales a week before Christmas! Thanks, National. You killed it stone dead. #nzpol

And what are you doing about it? Sacking more civil servants.

This does not surprise me. Every Friend I know shows kindness by default.
British Quakers are refusing room bookings from terfs as policy.
If you were waiting for an org to stand up for LGBTQIA+ rights, and unflinchingly withstand bullying and lawfare, here you go, friends.
Good luck to the raging bigots, they'll get nowhere with threats.

Here in Kansas people said about KS SB 180 "oh there is no way it'll pass"

It passed and now I am legally banned from ANY gendered restroom, so uh, at this point I might not trust people's assessments about which bills are "never going to pass"
This is possibly the most significant attack on trans rights in this country yet, and I can count the number of posts on my timeline about this on my hands.

If you're trying to dismiss this thinking "It'll die in the senate," DON'T! Sound the alarms now!
Bluesky tonight is neatly divided between trans people and family members appropriately angry and freaking out and everyone else who has barely noticed.

This year on Bluesky I wrote 289 posts and 432 replies. I received 2,752 likes, whereas 312 was from my most popular post, and apparently I love saying "aonz" and 🪶! (of course I do! I'm all in on NZ birds!) ;)

I will NEVER vote for a politician who votes for anti-trans legislation. Never. I don't care who it is, it's a dead issue. Move on. If my vote is so important to the future of democracy they should have thought of that before they voted to exterminate my child.

This might be an honest mistake, but it sounds like a scam. WOF last year failed on a rear tyre tread, so shop supplied/fitted a new tyre and passed the WOF. This year, they say WOF has failed because the tyre treads on the rear axle don't match. They're the ones who supplied it! #AoNZ

When we said “trans kids are a tiny minority” we meant “so stop picking on them” but they heard it as “so you won’t lose that many votes by hurting them.”

This is why allies have to be loud. They have to hear we are united in protecting our trans brothers and sisters.
We are parents of a trans kid and our family takes this very, very personally. If you intentionally make life harder for our beloved daughter, it’s EXTREMELY hard to think of you as an ally, to say the least. @amyklobuchar.com - you still send us requests for money, while hurting our kid. Disgusted.
Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->
