Dean Wessel, the graphic designer responsible for the glorious Chicago Bulls logo—essentially unchanged since he created it at the team’s inception in 1966—was never paid a cent for it. Instead he got free tickets to some games.

An awful season for #MLB journalism. “Player X being targeted by Team Y” or “Team X is the frontrunner for Player Y.” That’s a #baseball writer concocting a rumor or repeating someone else’s concocted rumor. Just tell me when a player signs. I can come up with my own make-believe machinations.

There's no such thing as a "favorite" or a "front-runner" for any free agent right now, except maybe if it's a guy likely to stay in the same place. There's no "in the lead," there's no "close to the finish."

While raking leaves, I noticed dozens of birds assembled in the branches of our tallest tree, chirping in chorus, as if agitated. Possible film idea? Birds turn aggressive, attack people for no apparent reason. Not sure what I’d call it, but thinking “the birds” should be in the title. #scriptsky
