The teenager told officers he was a U.S. citizen, but an officer broke the car’s driver’s side window and detained him. In a video, the boy can be heard telling an officer that he is a citizen, to which the officer replies, “Get out of the car” and “I don’t care.”

On that note, I urge anyone trying to get pregnant to get tested for clotting disorders, even if you have to pay out of pocket, and especially if you are over 35. Something like 20% of people have clotting disorders, and most don’t know it until something bad happens. Don’t wait for that.

There were several attempts to do this to what are now island nations in the antebellum 19th century. Guys like this would go around raising money from investors in exchange for a stake in the venture. Then they would raise private armies and invade. The stupid Senate thing is named after it.

American insistence that money for transit grows on trees is really what killed the private operators. To a large degree we didn't deserve privately-run transit
In 1922 Buffalonians organized the “Nickel or Walk Club.” Condemning “Mittenism,” they pledged “to walk or seek other means of transportation until such time as the International Railway company restores the five cent fare and guarantees better seating accommodations to the car-riding public.”

Thorough reporting. "ICE agents then surrounded the judge’s car and demanded everyone to exit the vehicle, threatening to smash in the windows if they did not comply." wasn't even mentioned in the other 2 local stations' articles. Great job WPRI.

Emissions from the T's BEBs will be higher, for PM 2.5 (which is what matters for local emissions), than diesel hybrid buses.

Also CO2 emissions only matter from BEBs, not from power generation, because the T "buys clean power" or something.

Things are going to get so much worse and I fear that it will come at the cost of more lives and the public's health.

How many lives must be lost or impacted before the ship course corrects from the iceberg?

Going to keep beating this drum. For frequent subway riders, the elimination of the 30-day Metrocard is a backdoor 14% fare hike and it changes ridership behavior in a way that discourages discretionary trips. Both results are very, very bad!

Dingbats allowed for a much greater portion of the community to participate in and benefit from community growth than any centralized planning process cities have come up with in the last 50 years.

That’s the spirit of the dingbat & that’s what we need to get back to promote dynamic growth in LA.
But dingbats were pretty much mass produced affordable housing, in a modern city, which is why I was always going on about the “spirit of the dingbat” that allowed so many people to participate in community development.

The switch away from sunk cost unlimited passes encourages riders to penny pinch and fare evade instead of using the services as much as possible.

Almost like the MTA doesn't want to deal with the hassle of ridership growth. 🙄
