An extraordinary, beautiful, and heartbreaking piece by writer & environmentalist Tatiana Schlossberg (Caroline Kennedy’s daughter).

heads up, this WILL ALSO REMOVE the automatic sorting that Gmail does, so you will no longer have updates/promotions/forums tabs and instead have just one big inbox. Which is stupid
Google has started automatically opting you in to let it read your stuff to train AI. You need to turn this off in SEVERAL places in your settings (not just for Gmail), if you want to maintain privacy and confidentiality.

Gmail can read your emails and attachments to train its AI, unless you opt out
A new Gmail update may allow Google to use your private messages and attachments for AI training. Here's how to turn it off.

I hope this is for real in the CDC.
The CDC is ending all monkey experiments. This is a historic move toward safer and more effective human-relevant science.

We are calling on the NIH and FDA to follow suit, and on the CDC to support sanctuary placement for the macaques currently at CDC facilities.

I spent the entire semester with a group of students studying the relationship between poetry and birds. Now they are what I call "deeply bird aware," noticing life around them with empathy and fascination. We will all be fine if we can stay connected to the living world beyond our human folly.

Alt: Starlings fly in a close and constantly shifting formation at close of day. This phenomenon is known as a murmuration.
