And the morning couldn't have started worse - Islamic State Khorasan is suspected of a successful and bloody suicide bombing aimed at a Shia mosque in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad. It should have been the first attack of theirs there in over a decade (!). #Pakistan
I am interested what they will say about ISKP, which had a bit of a rough year, but seems back in some key areas (well, it never left but its power trajectory constantly spins up and down).

In what I consider significant, AFRICOM confirms that some American soldiers have been dispatched to Nigeria, though lacking details on what exactly they are going to do. Given the rich AFRICOM experience of fighting Islamic State, there is plenty of options. #Nigeria

Underestimated consequence of Iran external pounding and the regime's hysteria on domestic front is the revitalization of sunni jihadists (among many others), that were supressed. The gates are open for ISKP's comeback in quite a fashion. Third comeback if I count correctly.

Hearing that the junta accuses France (obviously), Ivory Coast and Benin of orchestrating the plot to storm the Niamey airport. Aside from usual delusional rumblings of shameless cowards, it's imperative to note that a French Islamic State jihadi may have been killed there.
