It’s the same form over substance bullshit that is suffused throughout the last half decade or more of tech. The point of a book club is not checking the “I know the plot of this book” box, it’s discussing what you read. AI marketers must be the shallowest, most intellectually lazy people on earth.
This ad ENRAGED me because the ad is about how instead of forming a genuine opinion about a book, you can instead inhale generic plot summaries in order to trick your friends. That sucks! We don't need shortcuts for the stuff we do in our free time with our friends! Blegh!
That Google AI commercial about the book club starts off fine. Cute ideas for decor and food for the meeting.

Then it gets weird when it's obvious the host didn't read the book and just wants an AI summary.

I'm also very old, so I hate this stuff. Just read the book!

There’s a sad irony to the ruling they’re trying to overturn being one against FDR where he wanted to fire someone and replace them to do more New Deal stuff and now it’s going to be used to destroy every vestige of unions and worker protections it can
Oh this is VERY worrying

What were the chances that the billionaire class had no idea how anything actually got done in real life.
They just fired hundreds of FAA employees.

Day'Ron Sharpe just put up 25/15/5/2/3 against a healthy OKC team starting Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein. It was his statement game, breaking the seal wide open on a secret Nets fans have known for a little while now:

He's pretty good.

Words + video analysis here:
VIDEO ANALYSIS: Day’Ron Sharpe has arrived
Following the best game of Day’Ron Sharpe’s career — a statement game at that — we analyze his play, and explain how he’s gotten himself to this position.

They're talking about it on the broadcast but yeah why isn't MIP just Ty Jerome? Last time we saw him he was replacement level and now he might be 6MOY. If year-to-year improvement is what the award is for, I feel like he's got the best case.

Wrote a bit about the Sixers’ recent handling of Paul George and Joel Embiid’s injuries:

“I feel like I am going insane asking the same simple questions over and over again: who is making these decisions and why the hell are they making them?”

Paul George, Joel Embiid playing through injuries a symptom of larger problem for Sixers
Joel Embiid and Paul George’s injuries derailed the Sixers’ season before it even started. The handling of those injuries only adds to the misery.

Think there is a huge issue with the handling of injuries/chain of command within this Sixers org...

If Paul George has a hurt hand (and groin), why is he playing in a Feb. back-to-back of a lost season? Who is making these decisions? It's the same questions w/ the handling of Embiid.

A mess.

Dems should propose a law that immediately requires every fed agency to post on @bsky.app account, every outlay with a detailed description, $, and a link to existing gov sites with in depth details

Rather than trying to keep Elon out, pre-empt him so he cant miss characterize spending.

Let's say there's "waste" and "fraud" in the government.

Well that’s why every department had an inspector general to find and stop it.

But guess what? Trump fired most of these independent auditors who should be insulated from politics.

None of this is about waste and fraud.

I saw a bunch of people saying "subscribe to Wired for the good reporting they're doing right now. Plus it's cheap!" so I went to see and its literally $5 for the first year ($30/year after). Not per month; for the year.

LOL, I'm in for $5.
