don't think I posted this here. Basically explaining why I'm starting with noob-level stat analyses, where I think the WNBA might be and where the WNBA might be going.

How will the league's skill-ball revolution clash with both past and present NBA orthodoxy?
Rookies played, Nets got absolutely blown out, and Cam Thomas had a very Cam Thomas postgame moment:

Brooklyn Nets blown out by Houston Rockets, lose 120-96
Missing three starters against a Western Conference contender, the Brooklyn Nets didn’t stand a chance.

Jordi, pregame: "Defensively, I think [Danny] has done a great job with keeping bodies in front. That versatility, we can see defensively, where some teams, they may think that he'll not be able to switch, and he's kept bodies in front."

if I'm a team in the West looking down the road, intimidated by the Rockets size/rebounding, I'd be watching this Day'Ron game.

uniquely suited to battle w/ Şengün, can switch a little, monster rebounder, career best finishing %

The Brooklyn Nets enter 2026 not attempting to undo a mistake, not chasing their losses, but starting something fresh.

Kinda nice:

Brooklyn Nets enter 2026 sensing a bright future ahead of them
With 2025 in the rearview mirror, the Brooklyn Nets are finally just looking ahead to their future.

"What a strange day for him."

On Chris DeMarco closing one 13-year chapter, then starting another on the same day:

Chris DeMarco comes to New York Liberty with rave reviews
The long-time Golden State assistant coach won his final game with the Warriors, then moved into new home.

Nets lose, but another fun game against a good (and tired) team.

- Egor and Nolan have career-nights
- Draymond tells Mr. Whammy to shove it
- Bench has a rough night
- White boy on the island
- Nic is great:

Brooklyn Nets lose lead against Golden State Warriors, lose game, 120-107
The Nets once again got out to a big lead against the Warriors at home, but this time their depth was outclassed.

for four Nets coaches in a row it's been "if you score on Nic it's time to panic" (they're right)
Steph gets the three against the Clax switch and Jordi Fernandez immediately sent doubles against him thereafter

Nets just shot 79.5% from two against a Rudy Gobert team and Cam Thomas scored 30 in <20 minutes. Fuck it, sure:
Cam Thomas returns, Brooklyn Nets beat Minnesota Timberwolves 123-107
Thomas may have missed 20 games but he didn’t miss a beat, scoring 30 points in an impressive Nets victory.

How do the Nets have the NBA's best defense in December? How are they winning these games?

if his own team was down 3 with ten seconds left and took a layup on a 3-on-2 break I think he would have punched a hole in the stanchion
watching Jokić freak out for 48 over rules minutia or if Minnesota is about to run a SLOB they ran three years ago or if a teammate is in the short corner instead of the dunker spot

I can't take any more of the "but he doesn't even care about basketball!" stuff

even freshman Audi Crooks, in a game where she shot 3-of-21, had Cam Brink and Kiki Iriafen (here) majorly worried about her positioning...

Brooklyn Nets since 0-7 start:

- 9-12 with -0.4 net rating (#16 in NBA)
- 9-9 in MPJ's last 18 games
- Starters (Mann-Egor-Clowney-MPJ-Claxton) have a positive net on the season, NBA's 2nd-most-used lineup
- NBA's best defense in December
- Top-ten offense with MPJ on court

Egor Dëmin has been playing basketball his whole life and has never once thought "yeah let me get a bucket right here"

honestly incredible
December 7, 2025 at 12:11 AM
MPJ is hilarious, he doesn't need to actually create space to shoot
December 6, 2025 at 10:59 PM
Danny Wolf is here, he turned Miles Bridges to dust, and the Nets are playing four rookies every day. Like I said, things could be worse:

just tough to guard. CHI trying to deny MPJ's second touch and here's an impromptu blind DHO, high enough up the court that MPJ can flow into a three:

After a dreadful start, the Nets are 4-9 with a -6 net rating. The rookies are playing, the young guys are growing. And idk, I'm kinda having a good time watching this team:

Takeaways from a pretty fun stretch of Brooklyn Nets basketball
The standings say the Nets are 4-16, one of the worst teams in the league. It doesn’t feel so dismal.
