🧵 The right wing politico-media, as well as extremists - so called ‘Gender Critical’ - literally laugh at the idea that suicide & suicidal ideation exists amongst trans+ ppl. It’s disturbingly frequent as you can see here in devastating replies. Trans+ ppl just want to live without persecution. [1]
Pretty simple test... coarse and blunt, but effective...

Trans people... do you know a trans person that has attempted suicide?

If it's overblown, we should get very few "yes" responses...
The "misinformation" in question here is that gender-affirming care reduces suicides among youth. It merely reduces depression, anxiety, self-harm and suicidal ideation.

Yes. Several who have attempted and died by suicide.

Transphobia experienced was one of - if not the main - factor.

I want to briefly talk about one thing people don't really talk about too much with precarity and one thing that most senior staff gloss over, offering a platitude instead of engaging with what is fundamentally wrong with the precarity situation in the UK. 1/
