"Here, a disregard for the realities of technological change is almost always obfuscated by appeals to academic integrity and practice.” Surely academic integrity should come before chucking untested technology at HE?
Opinion: “It’s difficult to think of another sector that has so dismally failed to strategically engage with the transformative potential of information technology.”

In my experience you have Le Creuset cookware but not the pans and the bits you do have came from a TK Maxx raid. And you have to put your clothes on before you open your Christmas presents. And you're not allowed the heating on until the room temp is like 10 degrees. Or maybe that's just my family.
Could someone explain to me what is meant when a British person refers to "the middle class" ? Like, in the US, as I hear it, it basically just means a person who makes a certain amount of money, not too far below and not wildly above the median. Seems like a complex concept when UK writers use it?

Scientists just called out Ursula von der Leyen for claiming that AI will match human reasoning by 2026. Her "evidence" consisted, it turns out, of CEO statements from OpenAI, Anthropic and Nvidia. Not research. Marketing materials. 🧵

I have some new intel on the fall-out, if you’re interested in that sort of thing… 🧵

V tired of seeing people I respect and admire talking about how they use LLMs. "I don't use it to write but I do use it to interrogate my ideas". Why don't you talk to other writers to do that? Or other people in general? Have you considered the ethics?

One way Autistic people can be misunderstood is when we’re trying to be very thoughtful w/ our words under stress

Some of us stumble

Some of us go blank

Some of us have scripts locked & ready to go

we don’t want to be misunderstood

They can misinterpret our thoughtfulness with intent to deceive

Autistic and/or ADHD fam! I've just realised with help from my excellent therapist that I'm probably audhd. I've been so settled in my autistic identity since my late diagnosis that I'm not sure what to make of it. Not sad or anything but a bit discombobulated. What does audhd mean to you?

It feels somehow unreal that this is unfolding all around us. I have survivor's guilt from being at a university that's not currently threatening staff with taking away their livelihoods, but I'm not convinced it'll last.

Evidence that being "gender critical" has nothing to do with listening to women. Women have made it clear that trans women are welcome in the ladies' pond at Hamstead Heath, and now a small group of transphobes is going to court to override them.
🏊‍♀️The women who swim at Kenwood Ladies Pond have already made their decision.

In 2024, almost 900 members voted to keep their trans-inclusive policy - a policy that has worked peacefully since 2019.

Now, a small campaign group is seeking to overturn that democratic decision through the courts.
